“Great Outdoor Dining/ Dogs Allowed (as is smoking)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

My colleagues and I went last week for dinner and really enjoyed sitting outside. Was somewhat surprised to have so many dogs brought by other diners, but I guess that was okay. Was also surprised to find a filled ashtray on our table as we sat down. Fortunately no one was smoking while we were there (but wanted to point out that possibility.)
My burger was okay but the salad was fantastic!
My colleagues enjoyed their prime rib (which was the Monday night special).
It was quite affordable too (and laid back).
We will definitely return and would recommend.

“What a find!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

We thought we would check out a new place to eat on one of our many travels to Portland & our cousin suggested Rae's Lakeview Lounge. Since Portland has many waterways & bridges, we thought dining by the "lake" sounded nice. Um, there is no lake which makes this place even funnier & cooler. We seriously LOVE this place & went twice last week during our visit there. I had a wonderful French Martini for starters & then a huge plate of ribs that was to die for. Took 1/2 home & they were equally delicous as a midnight snack. Others in our party got the pot pie which once again was huge & looked delish, others ate the beef bourguignon, etc. All parties agreed each entree was wonderful. Dessert was ok, not my fav but the waiter was so sweet to bring it out with a flaming sugar cube for my birthday. The DJ gets started around 9pm with a cool eclectic mix. DJ's were very young, some goth. We are middle aged & enjoyed every second of it so don't late the young hip crowd scare you off. They are glad you are there! We will be back for sure.
P.S. Great place to go for dinner on Fri or Sat night as it has a very light dinner crowd. They were able to accommodate our party of 6 quite easily.

“Food was good; way TOO noisy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

Easter Sunday......last minute Charlie's looking for a place to have brunch that was easy on the pocketbook. I had googled some options and Rae's came up as the "best brunch in Portland 2014" according to Oregon Live. We decided to give it a try. Showed up at 10:45 thinking we'd have to wait but were seated right away. The restaurant is not huge but roomy. Sat in a booth and were promptly asked to take our beverage order. Hubby and I opted for the $5 bottomless mimosas! Yes, they were good and free-flowing! Portions were plentiful and tasty. Service was a little lagging but we weren't in a hurry so it was all good. My biggest complaint: the noise level. Holy cow! It was loud! Put several mimosas in nearly every patron, most in groups of 3 or more, and let the competition for who can be the loudest commence. We felt like we had to talk a little louder just for our family to hear our conversations. And when each table is doing that, it's nearly unbearable. It's really too bad....not the restaurant's fault but it may make me think twice about returning. Hubby and I decided we'll give happy hour a try when the weather gets warmer and we can sit out on the patio.

“Hipster foodie awesomeness...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2014

Okay...so I'm a little long in the tooth to be considered a "hipster".. However, I love the idea of carefully crafted, outstanding food, that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Enter Rae's Lakeview lounge.. ( No reservations...No lake..love it!) a great array of truly delicious entrees, REASONABLY priced and a great place to chose if you are dining with mixed group.......
(Vegans...Vegetarians or Paleo/cavemen/carnivores.)
They have a great happy hour (AKA Early bird special for the hip grannies who still drink!) from 2-6. They also serve food until 12:00... Yes...midnight...In Portland , Oregon....hoo RAY!
Wonderful onion rings and an amazing 10 buck pot pie of the day.

We have stopped by this restaurant/bar on several occasions when we have been in the area. The service is very good...everyone is personable and upbeat. The food is great with a wide variety of selections.
