I have reviewed this place in the past. Here I am just reviewing the Reuben.

It has allot of meat, just a bit less than another place. It also has a unique flavorful sauerkraut, though I think they might use different kinds for time to time. This is also the least expensive of the places I went to recently. It does not come with any sides (you can buy those)

A nice beer which was less than the other places as well, though not as good as a porter I had at the most expensive place.

No tip needed as there is no table service.

Stopped in just before they were closing. Service was friendly and welcoming. Not only were some of the different meats explained they offered samples of their amazing beef jerky. Thai BBQ and clover honey flavors. Both were so good I decided to buy both.
Nice assortment of German European goods, candys, snacks, etc.
another shouldn't miss spot in Portland.

The service at Edelweiß is worthless. While there are plenty of staff behind the meat counter, they're more interested in chatting with one another and complaining about their long hours in front of customers than in offering service or answering questions. Call in advance to ask if they have what you want in stock, because they're often out of specialty items (e.g., wine-cured salami). Don't hesitate to request samples of alternatives before making your choices, and be very specific when requesting your meats (e.g., how thick to slice).

The lunch counter and grocery register are grossly understaffed resulting in chaos and long lines in tight spaces. I rarely eat lunch here because it's crazy overwhelming and not family-friendly AT ALL There are just a few small booths and two-top tables squeezed in next to the narrow aisles of European boxed/packaged foods.

That written, the salami and sausages are made from scratch in-house and are authentically German and absolutely delicious.

They have a small lunch menu that includes a about 10 or more kinds of sausage , Rueben, grilled ham & cheese cold sandwiches and few other items and sides like cole slaw or potato salad.

They have a large selection of deli meats sliced to order, and sausages , bacon and good jerky.

They also have a row of European chocolate bars and cookies.
They have german beer in bottles and a few on draft. And some other german item.
