The donuts were yummy, but I think more people are drawn to the uniqueness and novelty of the place. The donuts were good there is no doubt about that, but I have had better in my hometown. It was very noisy and hot in there. I say pay a visit, but don't get too hyped. It will ruin your experience trust me.

There is a line around the block for a reason. The line moves quickly, there was a guy outside encouraging people to look up varieties on line, and there was a laminated menu being passed around, when you get in there, you have a couple of minutes to read the board and decide what you want while the line is moving. They have to move quickly because, THEY HAVE A LINE STRETCHING DOWN THE BLOCK. They were less than $2 per doughnut, they are big, and they are sweet! I am a big eater and I nearly couldn't finish mine. They are fun and colorful, and live up to all that is said about them on t.v. While in line we passed a screen door that had a cart of fresh made doughnuts that filled the air of sweet dough. It was great!!! There is no indoor seating, but there are tables and chairs outside like most places we seen in the area.

After seeing people carrying Voodoo Doughnut's pink boxes just about everywhere we went in Portland, we waited in line in the rain for over an hour. We entertained ourselves with the names of the doughnuts from their website and made a mental list of what to get. That list was revised when we finally entered the shop - the doughnuts are huge, and priced to match. We carried our pink box cautiously and with great anticipation back to our hotel. To our disappointment, they were very dry and very, very sweet. The filled ones had very little filling. The apple fritter doughnut was the best of the bunch that we ordered, but even that wasn't anything special. On the other hand, a friend of mine who went separately thought everything he had (some of which was the same as ours) was great.

Love this little hole in the wall across from our hotel. Once you have a Vodoo Doughnut, every other doughnut will seem ordinary! Where else can you get cereal on your doughnut? There are so many varieties and options that you simple cannot appreciate this place with one visit. It is seemingly always busy, but worth the wait. Not even expensive either as you might think....most doughnuts are under a dollar. I could not eat these every day, but then again, what treat do you eat every day? Just get in line, experiment with several choices, and have a great time. These doughnuts are not cursed!

A doughnut shop as a destination? Absolutely, if that shop is Portland's Voodoo Doughnuts! The parking may be filled, and there may be a short line...but that gives you time to review the hilariously creative doughnuts you will not find anywhere else - including the huge voodoo doughnut and my personal favorite the Portland (better than a Boston Cream by a mile!). We got several others, including one topped with fruit loops! Preview the doughnuts online prior to visiting for a quicker ordering process. It's a Portland must-see!
