“Portland Gem”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

We began our dining experience at another Lebanese restaurant up the street but after a bad glass of wine and a just okay appetizer we decided to move on to Al-Amir . We had a wonderful experience as Moe served us a generous pour of a newly acquired Chianti which was delicious. Our meal was excellent as well. We will be back with friends!
Extremely friendly staff sets the tone in the beautiful space!

“Good Middle-Eastern option”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

The decor and ambiance is great here, the service is good and the food is great. if you haven't been able to try a Middle-Eastern restaurant in the area, Al-Amir is a great option.

Food was neither good nor bad. Décor fine. One complaint though. The restaurant has a front and a back room. The night we were there they were seating everyone in the back room. In hind sight I wish I had asked to be moved early on. In the small back room we were seated next to a very large party. I think there was a group of about 17. It was obvious they had been there a while and drinking. They were not terribly ill behaved but given the size of the group and the alcohol they were just plain loud. We were just trying to have a nice dinner for two and it was kind of annoying and really unnecessary that we be seated next to them when there were plenty of tables in the front.

“My First Lebanese”

Didn't realize Lebanese food was Mediterranean food. Had the Lamb Shish Kabob and enjoyed it. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. I certainly felt satisfied. Service is good and friendly. Will go back again.

“Great atmosphere and food for a celebration!”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

A group of about 20 just recently went to Al Amir in downtown Portland for a birthday celebration. We decided to eat family style and the food just kept coming. It was all excellent...especially the vegetables!! The Belly Dancing entertainment was fun, especially when our guest of honor joined in the fun! The only problem was at the end of the night when the bill came. Trying to split the bill was a nightmare...some drank ALOT, others a little, others not at all. Management was not very helpful. It stressed our guest of honor out a bit.
