A lovely helpful waitress and good plain food.
We had the Guinness (it was the law) and the Shepard's Pie. Both were delicious. We wanted to return but ran out of time.
They have a great idea for collecting money for charity. One wraps 2x25cent coins in a dollar bill And the waitress throws it at the ceiling, where, defying gravity it sticks, great fun.

Really friendly and welcoming bar where there are great times to be had. Authentic Irish Bar with real Irish music and great beer. You can even get a Bud Light if that’s your thing. Great food as well. Don’t forget to say hi to Jimmy, one of the bartenders! He’s a great guy with plenty of wit and great conversation! Thank you for a great time Kells!

Had a couple of issues with our drinks, who serves wine in a pint glass? And the food was bland. Server seemed bored but the manager came over to ask how we were and we explained things weren't great. He listened and told us he'd be back. 15 minutes later he had not returned to offer us anything so we paid and left. He saw us leaving but didn't even come to apologise.
Spoiled our last evening in this great city

This was a catered event and I would recommend it for such occasions because they did great. The food was very good and had meatballs, cheesy potatoes, salad and roasted veggies. The room was perfect for the meet and greet we were attending for the Food show the following day. The bar was open and call if you prefers top shelf. I really liked the Irish red Ale they had on draft. I have been to the lower bar before for a pint, but will need to go for food sometime if it’s like their catering. Great beers on draft will always bring me back!

10 of us poured into Kells for libations, food and belated birthday celebrations. The waiter was quick to throw a couple of tables together for us and make our big loud group feel more than welcome. Kells has, makes, good beer, and offers quite a selection of serious whiskeys. Now for the food...it was spectacular. When in an Irish pub have the Irish dishes. I had the corned beef and cabbage. Best I’ve had, and I’ve had it a lot! My coworker had the lamb stew and hummed the entire time he was eating! Make Kells a top five stop in Portland!
