“A fun place for a bite (there or to do)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2013

When visiting Washington Park attractions, we asked 2 Portlanders for suggestions for lunch. Both suggest Elephants, so off we went. We were surprised and delighted to see the layout--individual stations where could order soups, salads, sides, drinks, desserts to eat there or to go (we were able to get a table so we ate there). Food was good and with such a large selection, every person could put together a meal for a fair price. It was a fun discovering a Portland icon.

“Best Deli in Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2013

Terrific food! As you soon as you walk in you know your in for a treat. Eat inside or outside, or choose take out. They have a great selection everything and serve beer and wine if you choose to eat there. Save room for desert. Try a cowboy cookie.

“quick and good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013

There are two locations: one downtown and one up in NW PDX off of Burnside. They are both self-services with places to sit and the food is very, very good...sandwiches, salads, hot dishes, soup.

“Go hungry!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

Not the cheapest place in town, but so much to chose from to eat there or take home. Cold salads and entrees, hot entrees including fresh soups and pizza, loads of different cheeses, wine, desserts, all under one roof. Sensory overload!

“Ooh, I LOVE Elephant's Deli! Especially the main store on NW 22nd!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

You will think you've died and gone to heaven. What an awesome array of gourmet foods. It's so very hard to choose just a few! Everything is excellent, a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Sometimes parking can be a challenge. There's a nice little small Elephant's right downtown too, next to Fox Theater and very close to the Park Blocks.

AN IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATION FOR YOU:
DO NOT FAIL TO GO TO THE ELEPHANT'S DELI AT THE AIRPORT PRIOR TO BOARDING YOUR PLANE. You will be SO glad you did!!! Grab one of their excellent sandwiches &/or other treats to take on the plane with you. It will be so much better than anything you will be able to get anywhere else on your journey home! I think they open at 6 AM.
