Nice hotel at a good price....on the Portland State University campus........4 blocks to the MAX train and two blocks to the streetcar....However they are extending one of the train lines that will come very closr to the hotel.....very clean hotel...They have LAN internet for computer..Good Breakfast included......outdoor pool......food carts near by......there is a rest and bar on site that just opened.......good limited menu......you can take food and drink to your room if you wish........Not right in the center of Portland...10 miniutes to downtown....If you are there on SAT be sure to go to the Famers market on Park Blocks a few books away.(on campus)..great food for breakfast or lunch.....nice place to go..staff was friendly and helpful...parkiing in front of hotel ( no long walk).....great for the value traveler..not so good for the business travler. I wouldl stay her again

Room Tip: ask for one facing the pool for good views if it is warm

I stayed there with my husband for a weekend. We were out walking the city most of the day, Came to the hotel to change and leave again to go out at night. It's ok. I foundthe location good because it gave us opportunity to travel teh city from north to south. The train stop is a couple of blocks away -which was a great advantage. The price is perfect for what we needed. The bed was comfortable, good water heater, good air conditioning. TV- Cable. No fridge. I do have sugestions though, the linens and bed spread where very outdated and worn. I was concerned and went thorugh everything before sleeping there, and asked that they be changed. The new ones were the same. I guessed they were clean- no strange smells or anything, just shabby- cheap. If they would dress the room up a bit it would've been much nicer. A fridge wouldve also helped.

The staff was very friendly and the location is excellent for a visit to downtown Portland. Very close to free public transportation.
The room was very clean, but with only minimal amenities. Unfortunately, although there is LAN internet in the room, WiFi is only available in the public areas which was very inconvenient. The room was very small and the beds (full size) were stiff and uncomfortable. They charge extra for parking ($12/day), which wasn't something they tell you when booking. The continental breakfast was bigger than most offer with lots of choices, but the quality & taste of most of the food was poor.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend, and I will spend a little more to stay at a nicer location on my next visit.

Room Tip: For the average couple, a full-size bed will not give you a comfortable night's sleep. Choose a...

Chose this hotel over one which cost 50% more, and boy am I glad I did. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel staff friendly and helpful. My wife and I received warm chocolate chip cookies upon arrival and a hot breakfast each morning. The free streetcar is only two blocks away, with the new Orange line due to pass in front of the hotel when it's completed. The bar at the hotel offers happy hour between five and six with several local beers on tap. Delicious! We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Free wi-fi is offered in Deluxe rooms as well as all public areas.

This is a well run, clean, quiet, good location, great breakfast, best deal in town. First off go see it's location in the south end of downtown, a block off the no-fee trolly, with-in walking distance of several great restaurants. I've stayed here on three different, week long conferences and will again. I don't pay outlandish prices, I get to wander the city looking at all the sites and discovering stores, places to eat, and seeing the different faces of this city. It's not too far to the riverfront or to bus transportation or by trolly to the trains. Has wifi and hard wire. It is not a fancy name brand name that goes for $100 more per night.

Room Tip: Undergoing renovations to provide suites. Views are poolside or out towards the city, ask during res...

Very acceptable rooms at extremely good prices (we were three in a room and paid $110 per night incl hotel tax). The location is good: if you don't mind a short walk, you can easliy get downtown on foot. Otherwise there is a MAX stop a couple of blocks away.

The breakfast, while not exactly gourmet, is free - so no real complaints there. Parking is cheap as well at $12 per night. And the chocolate chip cookies that they gave us when we checked in may have been the best cookie I ever had.

The hotel lobby and other areas could sure use a makeover, but then I bet the prices would rise. Anyways who cares what it looks like. The rooms are clean, the service is good, the location is prime, and the price is right.

We arrived at noon and they let us check in. My husband recognized this as an old Red Lion he had stayed in 20 years ago. We usually try to stay down on the waterfront but prices were high. This was close enough to walk and be downtown also. The rooms are on several levels but no elevator. It was nice to walk out of the room and not have to deal with waiting for an elevator and crowds. The room was older but very clean. Huge bathroom. Parking was reasonable unlike other hotels in the area. We also were allowed to take our shihtzu. The hotel has a work out room and outdoor pool - not open in Feb. A great breakfast was included - sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, fruit, rolls etc. I'd definitely stay here again. Max is right in front and very close to Keller Auditorium.

Room Tip: We were on the main level in the back. Quiet at night even though the freeway was close.
