Owner description: Portland Walking Tours’ fun and award-winning events explore the excitement, history, food, architecture, neighborhoods, bridges, parks, fountains, artwork, and just plain weird places in Portland Oregon. Tours include the award-winning “Best of Portland,” showcasing what makes Portland such a fabulous place to live and visit (daily, 10 AM and 2 PM); our scandalous “Underground Portland,” aka "the worst of Portland," revealing both the physical and metaphorical subterranean story of Portland's sordid past; the eerie “Beyond Bizarre”, a hands-on exploration of Portland's paranormal, using real ghost-hunting equipment as seen on shows like "Ghost Adventurer" (TM) and "Paranormal State" (TM); our delicious “Epicurean Excursion” walking tour, a tasty immersion into Portland's amazing culinary "slow food" scene; our indulgent “Chocolate Decadence Tour," exploring and sampling chocolate in its many solid and liquid forms, from bean to bar and everything in between; "Roses Gone Wild!", which dishes the dirt on Portland's famous International Rose Test Gardens; and "Flavor Street," where you taste the best of Portland's incredible food cart scene - and skip the rest.

Took the Best of Portland at 10 am today and learned lots about Portland from David, our tour guide. Well worth the time and money.
David was very knowledgeable about urban planning, design and history of the city which we found very interesting. Highly recommend this interesting tour and hope you get a guide as good as David!

My husband I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Richard. He was a great guide with wonderful personal stories. It was obvious that he enjoyed his job so it was fun for us. This gave us a historical and cultural context of Portland. I would have enjoyed a bit more walking but I recommend this tour for sure!

My friend and I visited the Beyond Bizarre ghost tour in April. We loved the tour because the guide was entertaining and they give you EMF detctors when you are visiting various sites. Ours went off a couple of times which was very exciting. They also stop at Voodoo donuts and you get to try one of Portland's best treats.

This was a great tour. However, the "Best of Portland" tour is a bit misnamed. Maybe a better name would be "Public Art of Portland" or "the Portland Plan". I guess that best of is too broad. Nevertheless, the tour gave me a good insight into the culture of Portland, and the layout of the downtown and the public art are a big part of that. So I highly recommend the tour. Our wonderful guide also gave us great food recommendations -- Portland City Grill for happy hour, and Mothers for breakfast.

Thanks for your review and recommending the tour to others. Perhaps a better name for this tour is "Portland 101" since it is a cultural overview of the city. Since it takes place in the heart of downtown, so many of the gems right in front of you are rooted in art, city planning, and transformative stories that you partially mention. The "Art, Planning, and Transformation" tour just doesn't have a nice ring to it. ;-)

Started our three days in Portland with a Portland Walking Tour. Very informative and entertaining. Gave a good overview of the city and its history without getting too heavy. Might have preferred if we had covered a little more geography but it did what it advertised and others may not have appreciated something more strenuous. What it did cover was great.

Thanks for the review and the understanding that we don't want to make any of our tours laborious in the physical distance they cover. Sometimes, as you probably noticed, there's so much to cover in a single city block that we become a 'standing tour' for a few minutes.
