“The Type of Restaurant You Want to Bring Your Friends To”
Reviewed 4 December 2013 via mobile

Last Saturday night we took a couple we had recently become acquainted with to WKS restaurant. And they loved it. The food is very well prepared; very tasty and the service is excellent. The only problem with eating here is that you can't really enjoy all the restaurant has to offer one couple at a time. The best way to enjoy WKS is three or more couples at one table at the same time. This allows more dishes to be passed around, without anybody going home hungry; or, going home without a doggie bag,
WKS certainly is the best balance between cost and quality of Chinese food we have eaten, in the Portland OR area.

“Go out of your way to get here!”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

This place is a hidden gem - as most good restaurants are. We go out of our way to get to this restaurant when traveling north. They make the best Dim Sum in the area. The little shop next door continues to perform as well. Ended up ordering extra duck, house noodles, char sui and roast pork to take with. The folks here are terrific. They put everything on ice for the four hour trip north. They even separated the noodles to keep them crisp until serving.

“One of the best for Dim Sum in the West Coast!”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Our family has eaten here regularly for nearly a decade & it is always excellent, especially for Dim Sum. As others have noted, it stands with the best on the west coast.

Beautifully done w/ crisp, efficient service. (Plainly, some reviewers here don't understand the dim sum experience, e.g. no menus). Trust us, it's great & well worth it.

It's incredibly popular for all the right reasons, so we strongly suggest avoiding going on the wknd between about 11a to 1p as the lines to get in can make it a 45 min-1hr wait, even though it is still worth it.

“A real Chinese restaurant”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

Five of us went for dinner. The service was quite slow and we felt ignored at times. The food however was tasty. We each ordered something different and shared with others. The food was not like typical American Chinese food. We had spring rolls a noodle dish, soup, etc. The soup was quite spicy. The atmosphere was nice.

“Dimsum Is A Different Style Of Dining”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

We only spent $11 for lunch. We had 4 different plates of dim sum. The food was very good. The dining experience was not so good.
You will not be offered a menu unless you ask for it. No one will come to your table to ask you if you need anything once water and tea are served.
The dim sum servers walk by in carts but will not show you anything unless you ask to see what they have. They speak limited English with deep accent, so it is difficult to tell what they have when they offer it; that is why we had to ask to see what they have.
To pay the bill, you have to raise the card on your table. Then someone will take the card, figure the bill and leave it for you to take to the cashier who will accept the money.
I left a tip, but would not have felt guilty had I not done so.
All the tables have white tablecloths, but they are not changed after every guest leaves. They appear to be changed only if they appear soiled. Many of the tablecloths have permanent food stains. If one looks closely, one may lose one's appetite.
The restaurant is in a large open room that is very noisy.
Because the food usually tastes very good and is very cheap, people accept the lack of service and the lack of environmental perfection.
