“Great Tasting Menu”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Went on a Monday at 7.30pm. Luckily got a spot at the bar almost instantly (someone else cancelled and we walked in at the right time). Debated on whether to get the tasting menu and really glad that we did. Was only $40 for almost 10 plates! Each dish was different and exceptionally good. The foie board, octopus and scallops were favorites. The last course was a steak -- the portion for this was very large! And I love my steak medium to rare and am fine with eating a rare steak, but this one was a bit toooo rare. The taste was still very good. Also had the white sangria which was also a steal at $8 for a big glass.

Gave it less than 5 on the review as the service was a bit too fast, we couldn't keep up and the steak was a bit toooo rare - almost raw. But I'm being picky here-on the whole the place was excellent.

“Paella, Paella”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We love the paella. Best ever! We accompanied our food with Estrella beer and cocktails. Nice atmosphere. Small place so you have to come early or prepare to wait.

“Top pick in Portland, tapas or otherwise”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

It's loud, it's busy even on a Monday night, and in the summer, it gets hot, hot, hot inside, but wow, is the food great! Plus, the service is exceptionally friendly and attentive, with none of that "we're too hip for you" attitude, despite the ultra-long wait and no reservations policy.

We had the squid ink pasta (great), gazpacho (great), butter lettuce salad (great), grilled flat bread (a cheap, amazing pizza in disguise!), and grilled corn with pesto (fine, but we'd skip it next time). Overall, the food is seriously good, way better than most tapas restaurants offer. In fact, among a dozen or so "top 25" restaurants I've tried in Portland, this is my favorite. Plus, the prices are actually reasonable, a rare find at a small plates restaurant.

“Great Find Near the Rose Quarter”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Famous for their tapas, they also do larger plates. The selection is very extensive and everything we tried was very well done. They have a fine selection of wines and classic sherries. Oh, and the service was delightful. This is a busy place with lots of energy. Long waits are common but there is a great bar (unaffiliated) upstairs and the hostess will call you on your cell when your table is ready. Try the empanadas, the octopus and the lamb chops, small plates all. You will be very pleasantly surprised when the check comes. It really is quite reasonably priced.

“Long wait... Well worth it!”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

One of the best meals we've had out in a long time. Went with another couple, had to wait almost an hour on a Friday night and it was completely worth it. We ordered a nice variety of dishes to share, everything was super tasty, service was great. It's lovely to eat in a restaurant that prepares food simply, but with bold flavors. It was a little spendy and a little echo-y - but if you know that's what it's about, it's fun. Noisy, pricey, delicious, convivial - a great Friday night dinner out. We'll definitely go back.
