We stayed here because it was the conference venue. Pros: Good location. Friendly front desk. Love the real-fruit-soaked-water available near the lift lobby. The beds are really comfy, love the pillows, almost made my husband bought them.
Cons: First night in the room, I found trash in a corner and stepped on the previous occupant's lone cuff link forgotten on the carpet. They didn't change our sheets for many nights ( we stayed for a week,) so I have to switch bed. Luckily there were 2 beds in our room. Have to pay $12.95/24 hrs for internet in room, grrrr...
Valet parking at $30/day. We found hourly parking structures nearby, was still steep if you park for long periods. Got rid of the car after 2 days. Used the public transport; the nearest stops are 2-3 blocks away. The train, MAX, and the tram is free within downtown so it was a breeze getting around. Portland is also a very walkable city. Loved walking around town.
I still like the Marriott hotels but would opt for Courtyard or Residence Inn which usually are better value for money (mostly with free internet in room and free breakfast.)
