“Great views and service”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

I have stayed at this property several times on business trip. Very good service both at the check in and valet. The rooms are very comfortable, clean. I had a river and bridge view. The property has well equipped gym, small indoor pool and restaurant on the first floor. My colleague had a chopped antipasto salad that looked very appealing and was reasonably priced. It was raining. But you can borrow an umbrella and take a nice stroll along the river. The down town is within a few blocks with excellent restaurants. Portland is a gourmet food truck city, very young and progressive. Our flight was late so we had a nice dinner in town and then used gym to work out and locker rooms to change fore the flight.

Room Tip: Room 849 was great with bridge and river view

We stayed here the week between Christmas and New Years (including NYEve). The rooms are what you'd expect in a full service Marriott. The view of the river was awesome -- definitely ask for a view! We were in an odd-numered room, and think those are the river/Mt. Hood view rooms.
The staff was very helpful. When our grandson decided he wanted to spend a sleep-away night in the hotel with us they quickly brought a cot to our room, literally two minutes after we hung up the phone.
The gym is well equipped and there's even a shower area right off of it where you can shower and change instead of going back to your room. The pool is lovely and warm. This will now be our go-to Portland hotel for the several times a year we are there.

Room Tip: Get an odd-numbered room to be on the side with the waterfront views!

Checked in for a quick stay in Portland before heading home. I asked for a room high up, with a view of the River. This room did not disappoint. For a very reasonable price, I got the room I wanted, which was high up, had a wonderful view of the water, and allowed me to snuggle into the warm bed linens that come with the room. The stay was quick, but comfortable.

My only criticism is the extra charge for the internet. In this day and age, couldn't they provide it complementary, like so many other hotels? Come now.

We had a one night getaway in our own town and chose the beautiful Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront hotel. Check in was quick and easy after parking in a nearby smart park garage less than one block away. The lobby was bustling but still quiet which was nice after the noise of the city. A quick elevator ride and we were at our lovely room, overlooking the Willamette River. It was a summer day so lots of people were enjoying the waterfront. Our room was very clean, well appointed and quiet. We had a wonderful stay and would come back any time to this haven in the city.

We booked a trip on priceline and made the drive down to Portland from Seattle for one weekend.

The rate was decent compared to other hotels in the area. Around $250 for two nights.

There's a smart park garage one block from the hotel. So we definitely saved on overnight parking! It was super cheap compared to Seattle.

Upon checking in, the front desk staff upgraded us with a room w/ river view. The staff members were all very friendly and professional. The room was pretty spacious and well-maintained.

Overall a great hotel of great values. We would definitely stay there again!

The third time I visited this hotel was early this month (December). All three times the experience was similar: prompt, courteous and helpful curbside crew, front desk and room service staff.
In fact, I had an exceptional experience this time when I'd left an important notebook on my incoming flight, didn't realize it until check-in, and the front desk clerk immediately sprang into action, contacted the airline, made arrangements to pick up my notebook from the airline and had it waiting for me a few hours later as a courtesy. Tremendously impressed with the whole experience. Good in-house restaurant with limited but flavorful offerings (loaded steak salad is best thing on the menu!). Housekeeping excellent and unobtrusive. Maintenance needs improvement: problems with air/heating unit, filthy air filter, problems with television, lack of coordination with refrigerator request, etc. The standard twin bed rooms rather small but river views very nice. Will continue to patronize this hotel.

Room Tip: In a heavily trafficked area. Higher floors less noisy.

Crew at the desk and outside were nice and efficient. Hotel was ok. Don't know if windows are old for noise insulation or trains honks are that strong but try to get a room not on waterfront view (especially at night I don't know why trains need to do that) good hotel and crew!
