The Mark Spencer is conveniently located near many pubs, restaurants, and shops. We were especially pleased that Powell's Books is only a few blocks away. The hotel is clean and the staff was very polite and helpful. We took advantage of one of their many "package" offerings, and attended the Johnny Mathis concert at Arlene Schnitzer Hall, for which the hotel purchased our tickets as part of the cost of the room. This was a very reasonable package price, and we got upgraded to an Executive Suite. Although the kitchen and bathroom were somewhat dated, the room was large and comfortable. I believe they are going to be doing some renovations, including adding a fitness facility and restaurant. Our stay did include afternoon tea, wine/cheese, and continental breakfast, as well as a New York Times (we would have preferred a local paper).
