if you're looking for a cheap place to stay, close to the airport, i suppose this isn't the worst you could do. check-in and out were a real pain. the desk was horribly understaffed, they had to field every query that came in on the phone while trying to check in a line that was forming. i actually felt sorry for the girl, who was really sweet, and obviously staying as cool as she could while being totally overwhelmed. the morning girl was on the phone as well, and i had to stand and wait again. although, that was a personal call that she didn't bother to end and let me stand around for several minutes. not something i appreciate.

the room was dank and sort of dingy. it was damp, and just basically didn't appeal to me at all. it was somewhat clean, but the bedcover was dusty and caused some sneezing on my part! i was booked for two nights and left after just one. i had driven down to visit friends and wanted to spend my money on shoes, not lodging, and in portland there isn't a lot of middle ground. it's either low rent, or much higher priced. it was a bit noisy, as the road out front is a main road, and the sounds from the lot are easily heard. and, that's why i bring a noise machine whenever i travel!! be aware that you will hear noise if you stay here, esp closer to the road.

the breakfast room wasn't especially interesting, no one really has much in the way of gluten free or healthy offerings at this price point, so i didn't expect to get more than a yogurt and bad coffee. and that's what i got.

so, while it wasn't some place i'll ever revisit willingly, if you're desperate, it will suffice. not much more than that, tho.

We stayed on Octobr 10. The staff is so courteous on the telephone as well upon arrival. The room was very nice, and clean. The shuttle driver picked us up @ 4:00 a.m, and that went well. There was coffee and tea in the room, and due to us leaving early, we didn't get to have their breakfast, but they had hot chocolate and coffee in the lobby. This is the first time we have stayed here, but just booked another night starting next week. The stay and park feature is a no brainer.

Using a "room saver" coupon book, I stopped at this hotel which was advertised as $49.95 a night for a room with a king bed. I was told those were sold out but for $5.00 more I could get a room with 2 queen beds. I took that offer.
The hotel has all outside entrances and has 4 separte buildings. The room was a basic hotel room, nothing fancy but was clean. One thing it lacked was an iron and ironing board.
It did have a coffee pot and coffee and tea. Although close to I-205 and the Airport we did not hear any noise.
There is a complimentary breakfast in room 110 which may have been a suite at one time or perhaps 2 rooms joined as one. It was a rather small place but offered, biscuits and gravy, fruit, hot and cold cereal, juices, milk, jogurt, waffles, and some pastries.
For the price and the closeness to the airport (about 4 miles) it was a great value. There are a few restaurants in the area along with a gas station. I would stay here again for one night, but choose some place else for an extended stay.

I chose the Rodeway Inn based on the helpful Trip Advisor reviews, the free airport shuttle service, walking proximity to restaurants and MAX line. I stayed here for the first and final nights of an OR vacation due to late arrival and early departure flights. The young staff was unusually energetic (a welcome surprise), helpful but a bit overwhelmed. The shuttle pick-up and drop-off were both easy and quick (less than 10 minutes from PDX). The complimentary breakfast was quite extensive (given the low rates) included waffles, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, fruit, muffins and cereal. Apparently, if you need breakfast prior to 6am, there is supposed to be a quick continental offering at the front desk (pre-packaged muffins and bagels). However, the items were not available when I was at the front desk at 4.45am due to a staff member not coming in that day. In spite of this minor glitch, I highly recommend staying at the Rodeway Inn for the impressive value.

Room Tip: Early booking rates for Choice Hotels members.

For what we paid, it was fine. We weren't in the room much. Staff was great and very helpful. My son purchased a dvd he wanted to watch. There was not a player in the room. I suggested he call the front desk and ask and they had one for him no problem.
One thing I did not like, there was a very odd smell when you entered and left the room. I should have mentioned it, but other than that it was clean, inexpensive, pool was great and free breakfast! Location is close to the highway for shopping and heading to town.

Thanks to Trip Advisor reviews we made a good choice in staying here. Very friendly staff. The breakfast has good selections, being included in the very modest price. Since the breakfast room is VERY small, you can take your food to your room on a tray they provide. They also have an outside pool. Complimemtary hot drinks are always available in the nice reception area. That was a plus. Perhaps when the one large section, which had been damaged by fire some time ago, is replaced they will have more room for breakfast.
