“Good Portland Option, Typical Westin”
Reviewed 11 November 2011

Westin is the most consistent brand of the Starwood Stable. With recently freshened rooms, the Portland Westin is a good choice. Had a Deluxe King, 5 fixture bath, nice shower, clean and new. Lovely bed. The cons were that I could hear everything from another room (but only from the bathroom) and the TV didn't work. There was also no SPG Gold upgrade even after asking. Management didn't offer anything besides a "we'll look into it, thanks for telling us" when I told them the TV didn't work at checkout. Rather than offering something off the bill. Given this and the lack of upgrade I can't give it more than a 3 star. As for parking being $33 a night, welcome to the World, people. That is what parking at such a hotel costs The location is awesome, especially for shoppers. Stay here, if you get a price but don't expect much in terms of service.

This is a very standard Westin, except that there's no Club Lounge, which is a big disappointment. Otherwise, you get exactly what you get at every other Westin: no more and no less.

Skip the rip-off hotel parking and either park on the street (spaces are readily available in the evening, and it's free overnight until 8 a.m.) or in the SmartPark municipal garage at 10th and Yamhill, 2 short blocks away.

Nestled perfectly in the heart of downtown, the Westin Portland offers visitors a fabulous peek into urban life in one of the most accessible, sustainable and beautiful cities in the nation. Friendly, professional staff greet you with a smile, providing insights into local attractions at your request. The rooms overlook pieces of the Rose City and are simply yet wonderfully designed—in both space and comfort. The option to defer cleaning and daily linen changes was a nice touch to complement this environmentally friendly city. An abundance of fresh amenities and an iPod docking station/alarm clock are available to set any mood you choose as you begin the day.

Spend your morning at one of the many nearby coffee shops—a local Stumptown or one of the Starbucks variety—and then stroll through the casually chic Pearl District for rare shops and incredible people-watching in this upscale bohemian community. Don’t forget to snag a book at the world’s most well-stocked independent bookstore, Powell’s, and a cupcake at the delectable Saint Cupcake shop. Finish your evening at Huber’s by indulging in their unique flaming Spanish coffees before you wander back to the well-known comfort of the Westin’s Heavenly beds for a truly restful slumbering experience. If you're looking to find a hotel in the Rose City for any length of time, make it the Westin and you’ll feel right at home…

Room Tip: Ensure your room is either on a corner of the building and/or with a view of downtown

Westin is located right downtown. I had meetings in Beaverton area and it's very convenient to walk to the MAX station. They have the most comfortable bed and nice shower.
I like the option of not washing the sheet to protect the environment but too late to realize that I could get more starwood points.

We stayed at the Portland Westing for 3 nights. The hotel is very well located. It is downtown and walking distance to many attractions in the city. It's also walking distance to Voodoo donuts!
The room was a bit small, but very comfortable and clean. The valet parking attendant and the front desk clerk were extremely friendly.
Unfortunately the actual building is small, so there is only one small area available for breakfast and/or dinner. We did not visit the restaurant, so I don't know the prices or the quality of the food.
The parking was $33 a night! This was probably the only thing that disappointed me about the hotel. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay.

We stayed at the Westin last week fr the first time in 5 years and we were very impressed with the remodel. It has always been a nice enough hotel but it is very nice now with a beautiful lobby, a new Daily Grill, and very tasteful rooms. The staff were very professional and we actually liked the hotel much better than the 9's, a luxury property 2 blocks away which is more expensive. It is in a great location and convenient to Nordstrom's and other retail stores as well as near great restaurants.

This is a small hotel, but well appointed as with any Westin. It does require valet partking ($33) and does charge for internet ($12.95/day) but the rooms are a good size, clean, good lighting, etc. Bathroom is very large and well appointed. Staff was friendly, though the front desk was always a little too busy (and perhaps understaffed). Overall it's easy to recommend this hotel.
