We found this hotel via the internet as being the closest to Crater Lake. I'm not sure whether it is actually correct, but being app. 45 minutes from the South entrance it is pretty close.

The inn is "rustic" in the way you find it at bed and breakfasts located "off the beaten track", which Prospect definetely is. The welcome at the reception at checkin was very warm, and introduced us to the local attractions in the form of 2 falls as well as an extremely scenic route north around Crater Lake to get back to the freeway.

Service at the restaurant was warm too, but the food was a bit pricy and average. Further, it is a bit strange to see a "no sharing, please" in the menu!

The room (a family suite at the motel section with a separate bedroom) was a bit small for 5 people, and the A/C needed a makeover. A bit below average for the price, but OK and clean.

I stayed at the motel for two nights. because I was traveling with a handicapped person and the accommedations were great. It was fairly close to the Crater Lake Park and other area attractions. The room was clean, spacious and comfy and well taken care of and the staff was great. We ate two dinners in the dining room and it was a great experience. The food and service were excellent (really enjoyed the prime rib and salmon).

We enjoyed our two night stay there while we were visiting Crater Lake. The staff is friendly and the rooms are charming. Breakfast was included in our rate, and we especially enjoyed the Hazelnut French Toast.

I loved my 2 night stay at the Prospect Hotel! We chose the Grieve room which was named after prior owners. The history is evident in the décor of each room with it's handmade quilts, antique furniture, a journal for each guest to sign and enjoy, along with a binder in each room sharing the history of the room's namesake and owners. Homemade cookies greet you next to your bedside! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, going out of their way to share all that their town had to offer and make your stay comfortable. The food was delicious! I loved my morning hot chocolate with whipped cream and banana walnut pancakes! Each room had a private bath and amazing shower heads. After a day of hiking at Crater Lake it was like coming home to grandma's house! I am highly recommending this treasure of a find to all who pass through Oregon. It is by far the place to stay when visiting Crater Lake it is worth the beautiful scenic drive! Be sure to check out the waterfalls and Avenue of Boulders within walking distance from the hotel! I really enjoyed chatting with the owner and wished I would have had more time before we had to leave. I am an avid traveler and big on customer service, The Prospect Hotel gets my 5 stars!

Room Tip: The rooms above the kitchen may have a lulling hum from the kitchen fan. There are no TV's which...

We enjoyed out night in one of the (inexpensive) motel rooms attached to this old verandahed hotel about 30 miles from Crater Lake. It's advantage is that it's a pretty and drivable distance from the National Park. The accommodations are fine, and do nicely for a night or two. The staff are very helpful and fun to know.

I had a lovely piece of prime rib and Ben had local Oregon salmon, that I, not a salmon lover, enjoyed with just one bite. The service was excellent. The Del Rio Pinot Noir was adequate, though we didn’t think it outstanding. The vacationlands around here attract folk from all over the world, which makes conversation fun and interesting with other guests.

Room Tip: The motel rooms have excellent beds, good plumbing and fridges. They are a very good buy.

Myself, husband and our 2 teenaged boys stayed here for 1 night in the "Records Room" in June of 2014 on a stop over on our way to the Seattle Area. Wow, were we pleasantly surprised! Everything was perfect from the friendly front desk staff, wonderful food, beautiful falls, inviting town and comfy, clean rooms. Our room rate included breakfast. Since our youngest went MIA to fish in the morning, the chef was kind enough to put his in a to go box. The only thing I regret is only staying one night! Our boys are VERY into fishing and had a great time pulling "brookies" out of the creeks and ponds. Of course it was all catch and release. Our 14 year old took a hike on his own the morning of our departure and we found him scaling the boulders of the big falls up the road to find the best fishing hole. Kinda freaked me out but this is what he loves to do! Our boys specifically enjoyed the very well behaved "house dogs" that hide under the reception desk.

Thank you Fred And Karen for providing a wonderful place for our family to stay. We hope to return for a longer visit next summer!

We spent two nights here in the Record Suite. The room was spacious and it was nice to be able to stretch out. The staff was very helpful in assisting us in finding local restaurants, weather at Crater Lake and nearby hiking trails. Fresh baked cookies were out for everyone. Be sure to try the lemon poppy seed variety! Breakfast was large and very good. Our waitress was bubbly and a pleasure to be around. It would have been nice if there was a TV in the room, but we were able to stream some shows on our laptop through the wi-fi. There is a TV on the main floor with a DVD collection if you don't mind being in a public area.
