Amazing location and view that cannot be beat. Right on the beach in Rockaway with a great view of Twin Rocks down the beach. A couple houses from an easy beach-access trail - and for the nimble, a fairly easy scramble down the rocks right in front of the house.
First trip with 6 and 11 year old grandboys was a big success. Renting crab rings a few miles down the road at Girabaldi Harbor was easy and a huge hit. Other highlights were flying kites on the beach, roasting marshmallows in the wood fireplace inside (great firepit outside, but felt too windy to use safely while we were there), and meals in the crows nest with the million dollar view and seagulls flying by. Great local feel to the house, with fun history on the walls. Washer and dryer were much appreciated.
The kitchen space is quite limited - part of one wall of the living area. No dishwasher, no staples except coffee, coffee filters, salt & pepper. We made do fine for the 4 of us, but cooking for a larger group would be challenging space-wise. Furnishings are dated, but comfortable enough, which was fine especially traveling with small boys. Layout of the house is also a bit odd - one bedroom has a queen bed, the other a queen and bunkbeds. Bathrooms are through either bedroom, and the room with one bed actually has doors to both bathrooms. Biggest negative was no Internet, which I somehow hadn't noticed when we rented. Overall, it was a great spot for what we wanted - sharing the Oregon coast with our sweet grandboys.
