We are very outdoorsy and like to do something fun and romantic. We decided we would take a trip to the springs and weren't disappointed. We took 4wd and needed it to get up the roads that were mostly plowed but slushy here and there. There is a parking area at the trailhead with a sign warning visitors about nudity. The trail crosses a creek with a makeshift bridge - we suggest bringing a flash lite because the mountains, trees and clouds made for a shady trek, but the trail itself was well maintained considering the season. The pools were wonderful and we enjoyed sitting under the overhang built over the largest pool while the snow drifted by! Awesome

Dirty and gross! We were so disappointed to see the condition of this place! Don't waste the gas and try Stewart Hot Springs just north of Shasta City in Calif.

The assortment of characters one encounters in the springs, on the way up, on the way down and in the parking lot are worth the trip in and of itself. A beautiful place.

My buddy and I went to the hot springs on a cold, overcast Monday morning hoping it would be less crowded. While we were there only three couples came to soak and one odd guy who was sitting in his steamed up car in the parking lot came up to wander around and talk to people while they were soaking. He got the vibe to skip us, but it was sketchy to have a fully dressed person who had a sleeping bag , a jug of water, and his clothes all laid out in the covered hot springs. It felt like we were crashing someones living room. Weird.

The springs also had a ton o'trash like cigarettes, towells, undies, socks, and random flip slops. My buddy gathered everything that felt safe to touch with ungloved hands and hauled it out. Except for the cigarettes- there was a couple there that asked to take the smokes and "dispose of it in the Indian way."

The upshot was the hike in was gorgeous, the view was stunning, and the water felt amazing. It was a great afternoon of buck naked lolling in hot water with fog rolling in over the river. Although we both agreed we would take a portable pump and dredge out the tubs next time. The water trickled down from one tun to the next, but they need cleaned out thoroughly. It just felt icky, but that may be because the sketchy guy was really, really sketchy.

Crowded in Summer... try sunrise... expect lots of nudity and perhaps smoking in the area... 1/4 mile + walk to springs, gravel parking lot, no real restrooms, gravel road to get there, dusty in summer
