“Excellent Find Dining Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2013

The Blackbird is a Fine Dining establishment in little downtown Roseburg. Top Chef quality menu, awesome wine list, and upscale bar area, or private intimate dining in main room. Also recently had family gathering dinner in their separate dining large table room. Awesome service.

“Off the chain restaurant path”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

Stayed in Roseburg one night; found Blackbird on tripadvisor. Nice white tablecloth restaurant with full bar, good variety of dinner choices, and pleasant, personalized service. Would definitely return. Why have the blue plate special when you can get real food.

“Dinner at Blackbird Bar & Grill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2013

This is a great restaurant. I love to go there for any kind of fresh seafood. They serve only fresh, pacific northwest, wild fish. My favorite dish is the clams in the piquillo pepper broth with the chewy baguette. The chef changes the menu often, based what's in season and fresh. My husband's favorite is the pork porterhouse which is a super thick, tender pork chop. This is an item they are currently featuring. The desserts are all homemade and delicious. They serve a big ground chuck burger and an amazing rueben, too. We have never been disappointed in the food at Blackbird.

“Terrible experience and very disappointing!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2013

We use to be recognized regulars, but not any more, It has been a few months since we were here, and boy how it has changed for the worst! All new staff had no idea who we were, seated and treated us like cattle in a feed lot! The old staff use to be caring and treat us like family, but they are gone, perhaps there are new owners or managers?

It's amazing how much a place can change in just a short time, ambiance is stuffy, uptight, unfriendly, some of the staff will not even look at you. Waitress had a self absorbed, attitude with a phony smile, she knew nothing about the wines we asked her about. She told us the available beers, imagine my surprise when we left and saw one of my favorite beers on tap that she never told us about. Service was so inattentive I had to go to the bar for more drinks, the waitress never even noticed we got more drinks and did not put them on the bill..

Menu has changed from a decent selection of fine entrees to about 5 uninteresting entree choices, including Costco raviolis, and a handful of over priced sandwiches. Food took a surprising 45 minutes, considering the limited menu, the quality was just not the same as it use to be, raviolis should at least be home made if you are trying to be upscale fine dinning.

It is obvious that no one cares about this place, or it's costumers anymore. Dirty table cloth, wasn't even on strait. Has a very prominent feel of pretentiousness and their own self serving purpose of making money. We caught bits of staff in the back talking negative about some customers, we were hoping it was not us. The vibe was very negative and it just didn't feel good to be there.

It appears that they are making a change from fine dinning to a nightclub/bar scene, with terrible and overly loud music that is invasive while dinning, waitresses wear unprofessional and inappropriately heavy makeup, for a fine dinning restaurant, more conducive of night a club look. People stand out front, side and back at night smoking cigarettes and other stuff, there is something almost dark and creepy about it.

We will not return, and frankly, I feel embarrassed that I have recommended it to a few people over the past month or so, who also expressed they were not impressed, with food, service, drinks and overall feel of the place, now I understand why.

“Very decent restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2013

We've eaten here about half a dozen times and most experiences were very good. The chef changes the menu periodically, of course, and we were sorry to see the scallops were not available last time we were there, as they were delicious (the chef really knows how to cook seafood properly---not overdone). The last time we ate there, we had to wait quite a while for our food to come, but we were in a party of six and the restaurant was almost full. One selection had to be sent back, but everyone else was pleased with their dinners. It's nice to have another upscale restaurant to choose from, as this town has so few of them. My advice would be to come early, for best selection and service, and avoid rush hour.
