“A welcoming experience & amazing breakfasts”
Reviewed 4 March 2009

My stay at the CH Bailey House was truly wonderful. After a day exploring the Umpqua Valley's wineries, it was a bit like coming home. The b&b is a little out of the way, but it's an easy drive.

I stayed in the Melton, a spacious beautiful room at the front of the house with an attached sitting room. It had a flat screen TV with satellite, and wireless internet. The only drawback was that I didn't have any cell coverage, which made business communications a little tough.

The breakfasts were amazing: creative, tasty - even indulgent. They were definitely the highlight of my stay.

Set in the rolling hills outside Roseburg, OR; absolutely lovely accommodations, gourmet breakfasts, delightful hosts. Jay and Sherry are cordial, welcoming hosts, who offer the best in a bed and breakfast experience. All the rooms are graciously appointed. From Italian french toast to poached eggs, ham and chard, (grown in her garden as are most of the fruits and vegetables), served at your selected hour, breakfast could be the highlight of your day! The china, linens, silver, (even grapefruit spoons for the broiled grapefruit), antiques and home restoration, demonstrate the love put into establishing what every bed and breakfast should be.

This is a lovely B&B in a 100 year old home in a rural setting just outside Roseburg, OR. Beautifully decorated, it is inviting and comfortable with four quiet, private rooms with private baths. The bed is absolutely wonderful and furnished with luxurious linens; it's like sleeping on a cloud. Amazing views from all directions can be enjoyed from sitting rooms attached to several of the guest rooms.

Delicious breakfasts are served each morning at the guest's requested time. A hot entree, fresh fruit, juice, muffins and tea prepared me well for long working days. Evenings were enjoyed by the fire in the downstairs parlor or in my room with yummy hot appetizers and crudites.

Perhaps the best part of the stay was the outstanding hospitality from the hosts. Jay, Sherry, their son, Collin, Sherry's mom, Chris, and the family dogs made me feel like I had always known them and I would certainly love to return to their home again. They live in the home and could not have been more attentive to me and my needs and wants without disturbing my privacy. This was such a nice change from a typical hotel stay and I really appreciated their warm welcome.

I highly recommend The Bailey House if you are in the area. It is a short 10 miles off I-5 and certainly well worth the detour. Thank you for a delightful stay.

We stayed one night with several other couples to celebrate Valentine's Day. What a spectacular place. The house has been beautifully remodeled. Every room is lovely. As elegant as the place is, it also has incredible comfort. You feel ralaxed in any room. We were able to see all the bedrooms which all have wonderful comfort and elegance.

The setting is a gorgeous country view all the way around the house. A rustic Christmas tree farm surrounding the house presents wonderful walks while gazing up all around at the lovely oak woodland surroundings. We had a great time playing horseshoes by the barn, and soaking in the hot tub in the evening. Easy access to Roseburg and the stunning country of the North Umpqua River and surrounding forests and trails.

The breakfast was fabulous and the presentation was just as great. The hosts couldn't be a better fit for a B & B. Very great people who are willing to help you out in any way or simply stay out of your way when that is the best thing. You will love this place.

  • Liked — The beatiful comfort of the house and wonderful setting and hosts.
  • Disliked — There was nothing not to like.
