“HALLOWEENTOWN”

Historic Courthouse Museum
Reviewed 24 October 2017

When we told my sister-in-law we were going to Portland for our annual Girls Wine Weekend, she said we HAD to go to Saint Helens for Halloweentown. My mom and I had no clue what she was talking about, but we were up for the quick 1 hour trip over.

Outside the courthouse, the courtyard is set up with memorabilia from the movie, including the taxi and giant pumpkin. It was neat!

Inside, the courthouse is beautiful and historic. We quickly walked through the museum, but didn't spend much time, as we were mainly interested in what was outside.

It was a fun stop and great way to begin our trip!!!

Small museum is rich with Columbia County history. Don't plan to spend a lot of time here. Great for a quick visit.

We stumbled on this museum on a very rainy road trip. It has limited hours so check in advance. It is in the still active courthouse in St. Helens, Oregon along the Columbia River. It has artifacts of the area and an especially good description in writings and photographs of the history of logging along the Columbia. Lots of tools, lots of explanation, lots of really cool stuff. Look for the photograph collection of how logs were "barged" over the Columbia bar and down the coast to California. We've never seen anything like it. There's the history of the Benson who eventually went on to build the Benson hotel in Portland. A fascinating experience and, if there are no court cases going on, you can tour the courtroom which apparently was the filming location for a movie called "HalloweenTown". never saw the movie but the courthouse is pretty cool.
