Best place in Salem to get Potatas Bravas. The different types of paprika used in this dish make it incredibly flavorful. Our favorite.

Cute little place--great for date night!

Well seasoned travellers that we are, we have significant experience with authentic tapas in the Basque region of Northern Spain, the birthplace of true tapas. Since we are a bit spoiled, this place was not quite authentic but it was still very nice. They are reasonably priced, have romantic ambiance and have great service. The paella was decent, the croquettas were my personal favorite and the churros with dipping chocolate are worth saving some room for!

My husband and I enjoy variety and we weren't disappointed in our visit to Andaluz. The small plates were tasty and we took advantage of sitting at the bar and watching the chefs prepare each plate. The menu changes often and we were a bit disappointed the lamb empanadas were no longer being offered. That said, the albondigas, croquettes and stuffed dates were delicious. The croquettes could have used a little hot sauce or spice and the blue cheese was a bit mild for our taste (we like bold flavors). Do not leave without trying the churros - light, crispy and a nice chocolate sauce. For wine, the tempranillo was a nice complement to the variety of flavors in the plates we tried. Price was commensurate with other tapas bars we've been to. The wait staff was fantastic - very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. If in Salem again overnight, we would return.

Andaluz is a tapas bar that should be on your itinerary while visiting Salem. Andaluz is prominently nestled in the downtown district which makes it an easy place to get to on a night out.

We chose to sit a the bar which gave us a panoramic view of the kitchen and bar (including all the prep lines which I think is fabulous). The beverages and tapas are made and presented by a deft staff of four.

Each tapa can be easily shared between two people - though you may have to fight for your fair share of the albondigas. Other enjoyable plates were the olives and croquettes.

The olives were succulent and meaty. They were slightly oiled without any bitter brine. Their mellow flavor could be amplified by the slighly spicey pickled peppers, bits of lemon peel, and/or sprigs of rosemary that garnished the plate. The croquettes had a breadcrumb coating which gave it a fantastic crunch. The inside had flecks of ham which elevated the taste and texture of the tapa.

But you must save room for the churros and chocolate dipping sauce! The churros were light and crisp with a perfect sugar coating. The "dipping sauce" had the viscosity of Spain's hot chocolate , but thankfully not as sweet.

If wine is more your beverage of choice, Andaluz not only provides wine by the glass, but also by the carafe. Andaluz offers a diverse wine list that does include wine from Spain and Portugal (try Ochoa's Garancha Tempranillo).

Andaluz is the place to enjoy Spanish cuisine in Salem. Enjoy!

We were looking for a casual restaurant while travelling through Salem, and happened in. Decor is rather spartan but the food was very good. We have had Tapas in a number of locations and this fared very well with some very inventive dishes. Everything we tried was delicious!
