Having stayed here before, we looked forward to our two night stay while attending the Salem Arts Festival. As before, the staff was attentive and friendly, our Deluxe King Room on the third floor was very clean and quiet, the breakfast was good, free internet was fast and the free parking is an added bonus.

We ate lunch and two dinners at Bentley's Grill and all meals were delicious. Service was a little slow at the last dinner, but we were with friends so didn't mind the wait. There are other restaurants in the area.

The breakfast room is a good size and we never had trouble finding a table for our party of 6. The staff worked hard to keep it supplied and the tables clean. I would recommend the toaster be moved by the pancake station. It was located in front of the hot items so those wanting to use the toaster stood and waited and other guests were hesitant to go around them.

The only complaint we had about our room was the bathroom could use some help. The tub drain was slow and the first morning it was hard to keep the water regulated. Also, the lighting is poor. They do provide a lighted makeup mirror, but overall it was much darker than we like.

We had a pleasant stay and will return if in the area.

What a pleasant find on our road trip. Reasonably priced, easy access parking, friendly staff and a short walk to the river and to downtown. Rooms were very spacious, our view however was a funny wall covering something, perhaps the air conditioning vents. Pool and hot tub are indoor and also spacious. The river rats, people here call them nutria's, very much resemble a very large river rat. And do not seem to fear people.

Needing a place to stay at the halfway point of our driving, we stumbled across this gem in an otherwise mundane selection of hotels. Rebuilt after a tragic fire, the Grand is just that...grand. The lobby reflects an historic flair (with the exception of the incongruous glass phoenix sculpture), with soaring ceilings and formal fabrics. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even to the point of crediting our account for the 10% restaurant coupon that we forgot to use the evening before. The room was tasteful and modern with slightly minimalistic decor, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the size was accommodating for two of us. The complimentary breakfast was enormous - complete with eggs, meats, oatmeal, fresh fruit. An attendant kept the room spotless and the food refreshed, even as we came in at the end of the allotted time. This stay was a refreshing change from the usual hotel chains. Highly recommended!

Wonderful attentive staff. Rooms are huge with many conveniences such as a micro, fridge and coffee maker. Unfortunately we had to go to the front desk for sugar, cream and bathroom amenities as our room must not have been replenished. The bed was clean and comfortable. Fresh baked cookies was a real plus too. Room includes a complimentary breakfast that was average. Girl working the room left so tables were not cleaned. Plenty of breakfast items but low on the danish buns ect.
A very good value in the heart of Salem.

Room Tip: high floor away from elevators and ice machines

Just got back from a two night stay at the Grand Hotel in Salem. What a wonderful surprise for my first visit! The parking garage had very easy in/out access. Plenty of parking during the holiday weekend. The lobby is grand and the room was huge by hotel room standards. Big overstuffed comfortable leather sofa and chairs were inviting as you walk into the room with a flat screen tv & desk. Then a nice wet bar with micro, fridge & coffee maker and loads of cabinet space. Bathroom with extra touches like a lighted makeup and full length mirrors and a bedroom with another TV. The king bed was incredibly comfortable with nice crisp linens and dreamy pillows. I was on the street side fourth floor and I never heard the street traffic below except for a fire truck with sirens blasting. Breakfast was decent, nice selections of fruit, cereal, hot choices and trays so you could take it back to your room. I will stay here on all my future trips to Salem. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Dear akbuddie,

Thank you for the wonderful review! We really like the way that our Suite King and Suite Double Queens lay out for guest comfort. As you said, the extra square footage in the room helps to give you some flexibility and comfort for a multi-night visit. We do have some room types that are larger, but for the value, I don't think you can beat the Suite experience.

See you next time,

Elegant the minute you walk in. Front desk attentive and quick. The room was spacious and clean. The hot tub not too hot. Really close to Willamette University, be sure to ask for the school discount if visiting the campus. Staying again when my daughter moves in to school. Did I mention free wi if and parking. Breakfast also included.

I only have good things to say about this hotel, which we stayed at on our way home from a road trip to California. Everything - from the easy to find location, ample parking, beautiful lobby, spacious rooms and terrific service - was perfection. Plus, the bed was super comfortable, the curtains blacked out all light and the décor was very well done.

Salem isn't a place I'd been to before, but now that I have, I'll return. And I'll stay at The Grand Hotel.
