Excellent hotel. Breakfast was very nice. Beds extremely comfortable and the entire hotel was clean throughout. The staff was friendly. The parking spots could have been a bit larger but lots of good lighting.

We come to the Red Lion due to business and it seems to get worse every stay. Turned on the faucet water and it was BROWN!, complained to front desk and she offered us free bottles of water and said maintenance would me up to check it out,(no one ever did) but she also said that sometimes you have to run the water for a little bit. I can understand this in an older home, and although this hotel is old, it serves people 24/7.(we were on the 4th flr) The following day we complained to another front desk person, she again gave us free water and asked if we wanted to switch rooms, we declined since we were leaving the following morning. The 3rd day, which was our check-out we woke up to find some "flying-buggy friends" in the bathroom. Upon checking out the staff was apologetic, again gave us water and said we could comment on this website, but made NO ATTEMPT to do any compensation. So travelers beware!

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your recent stay with us. I do want to apologize that our staff was not more accommodating when you advised them of the issue with the water in your room. Please be assured that we will be addressing the issue of our engineering staff not visiting your room to resolve this issue.
We strive to provide all our guests with the high quality of service that we maintain throughout all of our hotels. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to have the opportunity to better serve you on your next visit.
Kind Regards

Here is the new slogan of this Red Lion: "I'm exercising my right to not do business with you."

Hmmm I guess thats what they now say to someone who is a loyal member, came into the hotel the day before, worked with sales and managed to negotiate a rate and book a room for 60 days due to house burning down, and the next morning, receiving a call from the GM telling me that phrase and to vacate.

Best part? Check-out is 12pm. GM called me at 1130am.

It appears my fellow travelers that the Red Lion you grew to know and love doesn't really care about your business. In all reality, why book the typical "bread and butter" customers when they can skyrocket the price and get newbies in there.

I know Red Lion will read this, so on behalf of myself and my company, we are exercising our right to request that you do not post a response. Kick a person when they are down after getting their hopes up-absolutely disgusting.

This is an older, 5 story facility but is in very good condition. Everything was clean, furniture was comfortable, and the service was excellent. Had a late dinner in the lounge. The bartender/server was a Mr. James Oliver who was very welcoming and extremely professional (yet not stuffy). He, plus the good food, made for an excellent dining experience.

This Hotel and Restaurant is doing everything right for the discriminating traveler.

Great hotel that is conveniently located, we were in town for a Native American event which happened to be located just down the block from the hotel. It is close to everything in Salem and it was so easy access on and off the freeway yet quiet for sleeping. There is an on-site restaurant for added convenience in addition to a lounge (personable staff James had a great sense of humor and was welcoming) .

The staff member who checked us in was so courteous, efficient, and helpful; she reviewed a map the hotel supplied and informed us how to get to the events/places we wanted to go to.

Before I rave about the on-site restaurant, let me say this hotel got all the little things, right:
big windows that open for fresh air; fantastic pillow-top bed (slept like a baby; never do at hotels as light sleeper); well-appointed up graded rooms, smells good, clean; loved the little things like plugs on the lamp stand, big bags of pre-bagged ice, large mirrors, to-go cups with lids supplied, etc. Indoor pool and exercise room perfect for a bit of exercise, loved the dry sauna

The on-site restaurant, Willamette Valley Grill, is a gem. It was convenient to walk to dinner after a long day of traveling. We were not expecting what we experienced. First, the waiter, Casey was great and helped us chose from the specialties, had good advice. The combination of Casey and the exceptional food made it a delightful experience. Unfortunately, we did not get to meet the chef, we were shocked at the quality of menu, presentation, and preparation. We decided to get two appetizers and glad we did, both were fit for even the most discerning gourmand. Casey informed us some of the ingredients were locally sourced.

This chef knows what he is doing paring unique ingredients that seem unlikely but pleasantly surprise: Rouge Valley Creamery bleu cheese with dried cherries and hazelnuts or a delectable secret sauce in a blended mushroom dish you couldn't stop dipping your perfectly grilled bread into. Red Lion is fortunate to have this chef on-site.

Room Tip: We chose a room toward the back away from the main street; north-side, very quiet; partially overloo...

Rooms are clean and what you would expect for a Red Lion. Close to the mall, restaurants and stores. Would stay again, also a pet friendly hotel. If you have a cat.. Where is your furry friend? Oh I don't have a furry friend..

I have stayed at the Salem Red Lion more than 6 times in the last two months and have been pleased with every aspect of the hotel. The beds are very comfortable; the rooms are always clean and at a comfortable temperature when we arrive. Every member of the staff I have dealt with have been friendly, helpful and respond immediately to requests. The swimming pool is at the perfect temperature for either leisurely playing or intently exercising. The gym is well equipped and always smells clean without smelling of chemicals. I had stayed at many other hotels in the Salem/Wilsonville area but after discovering the excellence of Salem Red Lion no longer bother checking other locations.
