This resort is one of the WorldMark properties in Oregon. Having been at several other WorldMark properties (I'm a satisfied WorldMark owner) I was very excited to stay here since I had to make the reservations over a year in advance due to the popularity of this place.
Most of the units have at least a partial ocean view, and are fully equipped for a family to stay there with a full kitchen and stackable washer and dryer in the unit, TVs and DVD/VHS players in the bedrooms (only the deluxe unit has those in all 3 bedrooms), boombox in the living room. Soap, dishwashing detergent (both hand and dishwasher), paper towels, coffee filters, kitchen spices, and laundry detergent were all provided. We went shopping at Safeway (1/2 mile away) at the beginning of our trip to stock up on breakfast and lunch items and had no problems cooking up full breakfasts (eggs, bacon, the works) and even a couple of dinners for 8 people in our 3 BD unit. There is a gas grill on the balcony also.
The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a wall full of coupons by the business center for WorldMark patrons to use – usually something like 10% off your meal or some sort of discount – and I stocked up on those and carried them around with me when I went out.
The north side of the building is on Broadway so it’s very easy to just leave the building and be part of all the main tourist action in town. Bumper cars, Tilt A Whirl, putt putt, carousel, video arcade, skeeball, fresh corndogs, elephant ears…all very carnival-like and lots of fun for the little ones.
I was surprised by the weather since I thought it would be warm and sunny in August (what do I know, I come from where it’s in the 90s-100s during August) but that didn’t keep us from going to the beach and playing in the sand or going to the heated outdoor pools at the resort. The resort has a nice warm kiddie pool with a zero depth entry side with fountains that deepened to 1 ft. 6 inches on the other end, a larger warm pool for adults (3ft – 5 ft depth), and two hot tubs. Lots of kids at this resort and they stay out until 9pm in the pool area, but then it sounded like they just moved to the public beach area since it was noisy until 10pm every night.
Downsides are: no built-in internet connections in the rooms, not enough dining chairs to seat 8 people in a unit meant to house up to 8 people. To use the internet you could use the computers in the business center, or use a device that plugs into an power outlet that somehow converts the signal to allow connection to the internet through an Ethernet plug (this costs a onetime $15 charge and actually is very slow and doesn’t work very well). If all 8 of us sat down to eat we would either have to have 2 in the barstool chairs eating at the breakfast bar, or drag in the 2 balcony chairs.
Otherwise I had no complaints about staying here (in fact we ended up buying more WorldMark credits) and look forward to the next time we can come out.
