My wife has been showing me the wonderful west ( I spent the last 30 years in Florida ) and this was my first time in Oregon; what a joy. After driving down the coast from Whidbey Island, Wa. we were welcomed by the managers ( Barb and Cory ) and placed in an oceanfront room on the second floor. The room accomodated all of our needs and nothing could beat the view from our balcony...except sleeping to the soothing sounds of the surf. If you are looking to get away from the "chains", this is your place.

Room Tip: The upper floor rooms that open to the ocean are well worth it.

Thanks for your comments. We’re so glad you found us and that your
first trip to Oregon was a good one. Barb and Cory do a great job of
making people feel at home at the Lanai. Thanks for staying with us and
enjoy the rest of your trip exploring the west!

Clean, tastefully decorated, cozy warm with a mesmorizing up-close view of the ocean waves! Wonderful experieince...comfy couch, bed, linens...nothing bad to say.
The surf is lit at night...one evening four deer wandered down to lick the salt on the rocks. We saw a seal, gulls and comerants. The waves were 25t!
On another occasion (not during a storm) I visited the nearby park and wacthed surfers.
Best place in Seaside for us. :)

Room Tip: A taste of tuscany...room 37

It has been too long since we had been at the Lanai, but you can bet it won't be too long before we return. Great view from our comfortable easy chairs of the ocean, and the dozens ( and dozens on Friday) of surfers challenging the surf. Friendly staff, efficient room, beautiful Oregon coast, what could have been better. Well a few more days would have been great. Another time. Would seriously recommend The Lanai at the Cove for your next visit to Seaside and the North Oregon Coast.

Room Tip: If possible get a room on the 2nd or third floor. Better view of the surf.

Welcome back to the Lanai! Thanks for staying with us and sharing
your experience. We’re glad everything met your expectations. We love
people settling in for extended periods. It’s really good for the mind,
body and spirit to get in a nice long relax by the sea. We hope to see you
again soon.

We have been her before but it has been a few years. The property was built in 1962 and a few years ago they did a substantial update on the building. The units are compact but well laid out and the sea view rooms look north- northwest towards the town of Seaside. The waves are relentless and with the sliding door open the sound is both mesmerizing and soothing. Each unit has a small cooking area but can vary from a two burner hotplate to a full 4 burner stove with oven. It is about 2 kms to the town centre so a bit of a walk but there is a nice coffee place (see reviews for Aunti Em's) about a 10 min walk away for coffee and a muffin. Also nearby this coffee place is a small grocery so you don't have to go across the hwy to Safeway for a litre of milk.
The property is right on the water which is unique in seaside as most of the hotels and Inns are a fair pace from the actual water (there is very large beach and grassy area that separates the accommodation from the water near the town centre.
From your balcony you can watch the surfers brave the cold water in their wet suites to catch the substantial wave action.
The beds are comfy and washroom is functional with a shower but not a real bathtub (it is a sitz bath affair that one cannot really use as a bath).

Room Tip: room 47 is at the north end of the building and has a little more room and some end windows.

Thanks for staying at the Lanai and for sharing your experience. We’re
happy to hear everything met with your approval. It is a great feeling to
open your door and walk out on the patio by the ocean. We are working hard
to make the Lanai better all the time. Thanks again and we look forward to
hosting you again in the future.

This is our favorite place to stay on the Oregon coast. The facility is always spotless, the staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It is located on the most scenic part of the Seaside beach area and the surf is such fun to watch. We came at the spur of the moment to enjoy a warm winter weekend and we are so glad we did.

Room Tip: We like the first floor ocean front rooms because they open directly on to a big patio. We stayed in Rm. 28, our favorite,
