I'm not sure what others have found so special about Lanai. (Perhaps a comparison with other lodgings in the area explains it.) Our experience was that the accommodations were antiquated and lacking the quality of other accommodations along the coast: the floor in our room shook every time the people in the next room moved about; the normal, complementary aspects of even a hotel room were missing; the bed was barely large enough for two (it was not even a queen, much less a king); the office closes down at 8 PM so if you need anything after that, you're out of luck; etc. Yes, the view is great, and the surf is soothing with an open door, but that is available with any lodging on the coast, facing the beach. Fortunately, it is close enough to Seaside to get there easily by car. One can also enjoy long walks along the beach, which is indeed beautiful. A beautiful setting indeed, but not the best accommodation to enjoy it. Wifi and parking included, but no breakfast? (Also note: the pool is miniscule and if you want to do any fitness activity, you're on your own!)
