We stayed at the River Inn at the end of July and booked a suite. It was over the pool so really loud and annoying. Additionally there was an unfortunate massive die off of anchovies in the river so we could not use our balconies and our rooms smelled horrible. Hey, we are seasoned travellers and know that "stuff" happens. My issue, however, was with the front desk staff. She was basically rude and unconcerned. There were no other rooms available….I get that too. But, there was no forewarning of the fish smell situation or offer of any compensation until I pressed her. Good service is anticipating where your establishment might fall short of expectations and be on the ball enough to offer to make things better for your guests. This definitely did not happen.
