“Nice place, bad location”
Reviewed 30 January 2014

When we read online that this place was 2 blocks from the beach and close to attractions, we figured that was accurate. Turns out, 2 blocks from the beach is the end of the prom....completely on the other end of the prom from the turnaround. The 'close to attractions' meant at least a mile from town....definitely not walking distance. There are no attractions close to this hotel. So...as nice, clean and quiet as this place was, we were not happy with the misleading info in the description on their website. We always stay within walking distance of everything when we stay in Seaside, and we were led to believe that was the case with this hotel. So if you are o.k. with having to drive back and forth every time you want to go to town, you will probably like this place. Also, bring your own coffee cups cause they give you very cheap ones that leak out of the bottom before you even finish your first cup.

This is an excellent place to stay very friendly staff, very clean rooms. I highly recommend this to every one. Close to the beach, each room has a different theme, Seaside has some fun shops and its a great place to go walking down the board walk.

We had a lovely stay at the Sandy Cove Inn. The manager was extremely helpful, and we loved the decor in the "60's Room." It is just a hop, skip, and jump away from the beach. There are restaurants and shopping very close by.

Room Tip: We liked the 60's room.

Apart from the comparatively reasonable price, we found nothing to recommend our one-night experience at Sandy Cove Inn. Our 'pet friendly' room felt gritty and seedy, carpet worn and stained. The effort to make the room theme-cute and chic mostly resulted in a hodgepodge of thrift shop curios leaving no flat surfaces for unpacking other than the bed. For a single visitor needing only a quick overnight stay in a reasonable lodging it might be OK, but certainly I couldn't imagine it as a romantic getaway unless having all the lights unreadably dim was calculated to create sensual arousal.

The staff was friendly when I could finally locate someone on our mid-afternoon arrival. The front desk was unmanned and the call box outside phone couldn't raise anyone. Finally I was only able to rouse someone using my cell phone.

We were provided a microwave on request but the Refrigerator/microwave alcove was a converted closet without lighting.
The mattress was comfortable but the wall hung television and VCR assembly was small and antiquated. There is no ability to use DVDs, but if you're still into video cassettes there is a library of old tapes in the office.

Sorry to sound like Scrooge for I try to support family-owned businesses and avoid the chain operations. My wife and I agreed on leaving that this was an experience we would not choose to repeat.

Great place to stay in Seaside if you want to be a bit removed from the bustle of Broadway--which is only a 10 minute walk down the boardwalk. We stayed in the charming Garden Room for 2 nights. Staff is friendly and they don't come knocking on your door for a 9 am room cleaning! The pub (a selection of board games included) and market across the street are convenient. We will stay here again.

1 block to the beach, a nice pub across the street and a grocery store across the street. The rooms have been recently renovated and are quite nice. Free movies (VHS) in the lobby, and helpful staff. Only negative is the bed, hard as a rock :( I would consider staying here again but really hope they get some pillow toppers on the mattresses or something.

Combine value, cleanliness and friendliness altogether and you'll find them at Sandy Cove Inn. Love, love loved the themed room. We stayed in the 1960s room. We liked that the front desk would give us a list of places to go to in the area that they recommend. All in all our 2-night stay was a delight.
