“A tradition”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014

It's now become a tradition that whenever we are in the Newport area, one of our must stops is the Fish Market. My husband usually gets the calamari and the kids like the shrimp cocktail and the fish and chips. I don't care for seafood much, but I make sure we don't leave without some jerky - it is SO good!

“Fresh and good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014

More signs than you can shake a stick at, but the fish is fresh and good. Fried, tho, all of it is fried except the crab and the shrimp cocktail. We took our choices to the park near Yaquina Lighthouse because the scenery was a lot better than the funky fish market dining area. Moderately priced.

“Take out from a Fish Market”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2014

This is a great place to go for steamed fresh local Dungeness crab. They precooked the crabs in a large steam pot in front of the market. You can eat inside at tables in front of the fish case or outside at a picnic table, but take out would be a better idea. Do not go for a dining experience. Just go for fresh fish and chips or crab and take it to eat at your favorite picnic spot.

“Great food”

Little hole in the wall place but don't let that fool you. The food is excellent. Crab pot is always on, usually a line but it's worth it.

“Authenic Oregon dive with good seafood”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2014

If Hollywood wanted to make a film about a genuine Oregon roadside seafood market they would not need to alter the setting nor costumes.
10.00 to 14.00 for fish and chips depending on fish choice. Fresh fish was very good but the "six pieces" of sea bass were about the size of quarters. The shrimp cocktail was excellent.
I got a kick out of the fishmongers who were loud but hard working and efficient.
You had better be ready to order without hesitation when you approach the counter if you do not want impatient scorn. They are busy and obviously do not appreciate questions about the menu items.
Overall I enjoyed the experience and judged from the several local customers that this establishment is appreciated by the Newport citizens.
