Not impressed. The $10-$13 six piece fish and chips basket in reality is 6 pieces of *nugget size fish. The best part was the outside seating on a sunny day.

This place looks like a grocery store with a fish market attached. Don't drive past it. The food is nothing short of excellent. Best crab cocktails on the coast with killer cocktail sauce (order a drink with your cocktails) and the halibut fish and chips are awesome. Always stop there when we go to the Central Oregon Coast. We are almost considered regulars!!!

This is the sort of place I would drive right on by. It looks grungy from the outside, picnic tables next to the highway, plants half dead, but put your brakes on and TRUST ME. It is some of the best seafood on the Oregon coast. I visit this restaurant EVERY TIME I come to the coast. they serve some of the BEST Tiger Prawns I have ever eaten. Halibut Fish and Chips is delicious and the shrimp sandwich is killer. Yes, everything is fried. And it tastes like fried heaven. The fries are nothing special and I wasn't impressed with the coleslaw. But the seafood is outstanding. Mmmmmmmmm. Wish I had an order of Tiger Prawns right now! Everything runs about $10-15.

Don't get all tony on me about this review but if all you are interested in is fresh, delicious seafood presented in a very unadulterated style, this is your place. Albeit fried, this is your place of choice. When you arrive in the crusty joint, you will find locals and lots of them...this is your first indication you are in the right place. Don't look for the white table cloth or Riedel wine glasses...consider yourself lucky if you even find a table. This is a market that does food but it is a market first.

We enjoyed the halibut fish and chips and the fried scallops...the side fries were out of a sack but so what? The breadth of the menu is beyond any so-called seafood restaurant. These guys don't even know what the word "broiled" means so don't trouble yourself with that stuff.

The price points are excellent and I think that is what drives the locals...fishermen, cannery workers, etc. And visitors who are looking for authentic local flavor. The place is not hard to miss since when you come off the Yaquina Bay bridge south, it is on your right about 1/2 mile. There is no signage with the name, "South Beach Fish Market"...there is just this jumble of boards announcing all the fish they offer...you have arrived.

Get out of the car and enjoy a real local experience...then limp back over the bridge, take a nap and then go to the so-called seafood restaurant for dinner.
