Bad first: small parking lot, narrow, if trucks are there it is a mess. Across from alternative school so after school and lunch hours it is PACKED, transients who bum money, cigarettes, etc. Downtown on Main, so parking is sometimes iffy, but usually not bad. Good: FRIENDLY people, good meats (average prices), lots of little stuff like warm snacks, sodas, chips, newspapers, wine, etc.) Sort of 7-11 inside. Meat Boxes (I don't but friends do and love them), soup bones (my dogs love them), interior is small and packed with stuff, so leave the raging toddler in the car. Watch the hours cuz when the teens are in there, it is SRO and the lines are bad. All summer it is a breeze, though. Like the place, go there almost every week. Friends go there too, nothing is really cheap there, so price wise, its better than the store, but only marginally so, but quality is high for the most part. Butchers are friendly and will help you, they have even cut up some extra soup bones for me when they were out in the freezer. I would recommend for those reasons and with those provisos. Teens don't hassle you, they are large in number and getting sodas and stuff, so its just a bit of an imposition and the transients, though hoping for cigarettes, are harmless (at least so far), still, lock your car, just in case.

Since there is no appropriate category for shops, I chose to list this in restaurants since our intention is to eat what we bought. Therefore, some of the rating categories also don't fit exactly.
We stopped here early in a camping trip in Oregon (Springfield is just east of Eugene). It's a nice little butcher shop/deli/market. They have wonderful looking fresh steaks and chops, but since we don't have a grill we had to pass them up. Very good pricing also. We did buy some lamb/spinach/feta sausage that we sauteed that evening and it was delicious. They specialize in exotic and game meats, mostly frozen. We bought some frozen elk that we brought home and will try on our grill with some friends. A great quick stop if you're traveling through Oregon and want some supplies for your trip. A lot of Oregon beers (of course) and a selection of cheeses too.
