We were looking for a fall foliage viewing destination in the Portland/Bend areas and came across the glowing reviews for this resort. The resort is located in a small town - about a 20 minutes driving distance from Bend,OR. So you can get the quite 'getaway' feel and at the same time be close to the dining and shopping scene of the Old Mill district in Bend. The night that we checked in to our room, the temperature dropped suddenly and we were greeted by a snow clad morning. Since we couldn't control the thermostat in our room correctly, we called the front desk and they sent us a personal heater, while they fixed it quickly. We also had a great fireplace in the room to add to the perfect ambience. When I asked the front desk casually if there was a microwave somewhere in the resort, they immediately sent over a microwave for the duration of our stay! We would definitely go back for the amazing service that they offer.

Sunriver is certainly popular during it's peak season. But we found it to be delightfully peaceful during early October. The weather was very chilly in the early morning and evening (30 degrees) but warmed to a sunny 60 in the afternoon.

We stayed in a Lodge Suite, which consisted of a roomy main floor with large kitchen (small fridge but everything else normal sized), living room area with large gas fireplace, patio and then a loft area with a full bath and 2 queen beds. I stayed with a friend for a girl's get-away and it was perfect.

The suites can be a little ways from the main lodge (where the restaurants are located) but Sunriver is all about walking. Just be sure to pack a little flashlight as the paths are not well lit at night.

The Sage Spa was amazing! If you book or even go for the day, be sure to bring your swimsuit. Inside the women's locker room is the most amazing little whirlpool tub set into a room that is built out to look like you are under the stars. Fake rocks, starry night sky and even birds chirping make you feel like you are literally sitting in the middle of the dessert. There are also well equipped showers and a steam room. Plus amazing facials and massage!

For shopping, check out The Closet located in the small village. Unique and fashionable clothes at incredible prices.

Room Tip: The suites give you a little extra room but not much in the way of privacy, given the master bedroom...

Upon arrival, I was sent to a great room. I adjusted the heat and proceeded to get hotter and hotter. The front desk promptly sent a technician who said heater was broken and I needed to be moved. Bellman comes to move me. Second room has not been made up (3 bears - who's been sleeping, etc.). The 3rd room was a loft suite with treacherous stairs - but was clean and in working order. Furniture needs refurbishing and housekeeping needs tighter supervision: cigarette butts on the neck, coffee packs not replaced, just sloppy.

Room Tip: Inspect the room prior to unpacking.

Our Caldera property on Trailmere was fabulous, only 1 year old and beautifully appointed. The perfect home for a relaxing weekend. Our only disappointment was that the par 3 course was closed for the winter, we'll have to play on the next visit!

I went to Sunriver for a conference in late September. The location is wonderful. Very peaceful. Only complaint is limited food spots. Only so many times you can eat in the bar but the bar has great food! Recommend going into Bend for better dining options. My room was small and a bit dated. Great fireplace. Had trouble with poor lighting. Take it for what it is though - great little spot that I found cozy. Friends had room with upstairs/downstairs and I liked it better. The facilities for the conference were excellent and the food throughout was very good. Staff is very helpful.

Room Tip: Go for 2 floor plan.

Spent two nights here Oct 9th and 10th. Everything was perfect! The room, the lodge, the meeting facilities and the spa were all incredible! We went off site for dinner, but the food we had at the conference was very good. Reggie checked us in, she even gave us an upgrade! The internet was a little slow, but that was only a minor inconvenience. I hope to have the opportunity to visit here again soon. Thanks Sunriver for a great stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room. There are no elevators.

Lovely lodge, a la Destination Resorts, in the heart of high desert recreation. My 3rd trip for a conference, and continue to enjoy the rooms, the outdoor spaces, and the dining.
Staff is very accommodating, going the extra mile to do for you what you could do yourself such as calling a cab.
The interior of the rooms are well done, in an outdoorsy motif, with gas fireplaces that really came in handy in October when the nights dip to 30 degrees.
A shuttle is available for travel across the property in case dinner ends after dark.
Really enjoyed it!
