“Go to the High Desert Museum instead”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

It is something to do if you dont want to leave resort property. I think the High Desert Museum is way better and is only a few minutes away.

“Great for kids”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

This is a great place for kids to learn about nature, see some wildlife and for adults - there is plenty to learn about the location. See their raptors up close and personal - great experience.

“Very Well Done Nature Center”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

The Sunriver Nature Center is relatively small, but it could easily be considered a gem. Size is less important that the quality. The Eastern Oregon high desert is a fascinating place, and this nature center helps visitors understand the unique ecosystem. The displays are well done and highly informative. Although there is a strong "kid component" I noticed that the adults in our group were just as interested. The bird watchers among us were fascinated by the array of feathered friends that we don't get to see elsewhere.

A particular treat was getting to see the eagle that was in rehab. That is a seriously big bird, and I do mean "big!" We also saw two species of owls on the day of our visit. The view of the river is excellent. There are hiking trails, too.

If you are in Sunriver, be sure to stop at the Nature Center.

“Not much to see”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Based on the other reviews, we thought this would be a fun diversion for a rainy day. Not so much. The center is small with mediocre displays. The trail out back takes 5 minutes to walk. Maybe younger kids would find it interesting, but mine at 11+ didn't. Oh well.

“Nice little Nature Center”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

The center was quite interesting and fun to visit. The staff person on duty seemed pretty preoccupied with what he was doing - he would answer questions easily but not interested in chatting or giving out extra information. The outside trail was worthwhile.
