Although the room was smaller than many Comfort Inns, it was large enough and was newly updated. The only things I noticed not updated were the shower and the toilet. The staff was delightful and efficient. The internet was faster than most wireless and the beds were as good as more expensive full service hotels. I stayed on the second floor and there was not elevator. For those for whom it is a concern, ask for a first floor room.

Room Tip: Right on the freeway, but the noise isn't bad. There is no elevator for rooms on the second flo...

Anybody who has stayed at a cheap hotel would recognize the AC problems we suffered - that the AC's compressor would momentarily kick-in and cool and then quit in 30 seconds. The time between the cooling cycles got longer and longer while the room got warmer and warmer. Trouble was the problem wasn't evident until midnight and efforts to fix by turning down the temp, and then switching to high all failed. We had to open the window when we couldn't stand it anymore and try and get some remaining sleep but the din of the highway noise made that impossible.

Trouble was this wasn't a cheap hotel at $136 a night with AARP. I asked for an adjustment at checkout and got the usual "Did you call maintenance?" I explained I was not going to do that in the middle of the night and further compromise the amount of sleep we got. I was offered a $20 adjustment. I said I thought $35, a 25% adjustment, was more appropriate. I would have still paid $101 before tax. That suggestion was refused and followed with revocation of the $20 adjustment previously offered.

I am obviously furious

We've never stayed at a Comfort Inn before (usually go with Best Western), but were surprised by how comfortable the bed and pillows were. Finally, a motel that had soft, thin pillows as well as the usual thick ones. My sore neck really appreciated this!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the side of the building away from the freeway (as we did). It's probably...

Very clean. Breakfast was standard selection for this hotel chain. Staff friendly. I am loyal for the Choice Hotels chain and this was a good one. 'Pet friendly' means $15/pet charge. I never heard another dog or our own all night.

The staff gets high marks for correcting a double booking problem.
Access to the motel is fair as long as you keep to the right, behind the gas station.
Good breakfast, no road noise, and clean. The “hot” tub is 4 degrees too cool.
I wish them well but I will pass this area by the next time. All motels here are overpriced.

Room Tip: Be aware of the high concentration of panhandlers in this town.

Although this hotel was undergoing a complete remodel of the check in lobby, it was a surprise that the rooms were quiet and clean. It's very close to the Dam and next to the river.
We were very surprised that they served homemade soup in the evening for their guests. This is the first place that has done this ! Breakfast was average for a hotel chain.

Very impressed! Nice and clean. Good sized rooms. Pleasent staff. We traveled with 3 small children ages 4 months, 1 and 3. The breakfast worked out perfectly. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. I will definitely stay again at this chain. Great for the price.

We erroneously booked the room in Hood River instead of The Dalles. Connie at Hood River and the staff at The Dalles were able to transfer the reservation. Thanks!
