“Sit and sip your coffee and watch the snow fall...”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

My esteemed spouse and I recently enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the Cascade dining room. It was warm and comfortable and delightful to look out the window and watch the cars getting buried by snow. He had the breakfast buffet and enjoyed it all, especially the make your own waffles with all the fruit toppings to choose from. I had the continental breakfast buffet, which is an option that is not particularly well advertised. It is to the left of the full buffet and includes many, many tasty choices such as yogurts, fruit, beignets ( delicious!) with jam, cheeses and oatmeal and cereal and breads. Our waiter did a great job of keeping the coffee cups filled. I will say it is pricy....and honestly, in the middle of winter, the only game in town, so be prepared. However, that being said, it was a great way to start a great day on the slopes!

“Breakfast Buffet - Dinner”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

The buffet featured man items. You could make your own waffle - they had lots of fruits to add to it and syrup. I was thrilled to see Biscuits and Gravy - but unfortunately - the gravy was loaded with onions! I've never had it that way - and the onions were so strong that when it got on the other foods - I couldn't eat them because of the strong, strong taste of the onions!

Our server was very, very attentive and friendly. He was from Michigan where my husband grew up - and that made it even more interesting! Nice guy - very good server!

We had a very light dinner there the night before - and it was good.

Very nice atmosphere in the Lodge. They take reservations - but it's not required if they have the room.

“Spectacular lodge, excellent food, what a treat!”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

One our way from Portland across the Cascades to Bend, OR we decided to stop. And wow, are we glad we did! First, the lodge is simply gorgeous. . . huge timbers, the snow was 12 ft high pressed up against the windows, and the fire was roaring. The rustic atmosphere was very appealing and the staff extremely welcoming. The menu was wonderful! Very unique items and each was exquisite. Such a great place. . . wish it was closer! We will definitely be stopping in every chance we get.

“Wowed on Mt. Hood”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

My husband and I recently stayed at the historic Timberline Lodge for our anniversary. It was rustic, charming, cozy and romantic. But the best part was the food - amazing!

We ate in the Cascade Dining Room the first night and we both had the tenderloin for a main course. It was the best we could remember in a long time. It was served with flavorful spaghetti squash and a slab of potato. The presentation, the service and the ambiance was just superb. They serve all organic, locally sourced food and it was fresh and tasty. The next morning we returned for the breakfast buffet. Again - wow! And get this - they allowed us a to-go box which we loaded up with fruit and cheese that made a perfect after ski snack. We had another top-notch dinner in the upstairs bar, played scrabble, and drank some yummy cocktails. The lunch buffet the next day again knocked our socks off - and again they let us have a to-go box that we stuffed with brownies and cookies for an after ski snack. We never used the heated outdoor pool or hot tub; we were too busy eating.

We highly recommend Timberline Lodge for a get-away. Or just go for a dinner adventure - its worth the trip.

“Superb bacon! Recipe, please.”
Reviewed 18 February 2014

I had the bacon sampler on Sunday morning. The Timberline in-house bacon was excellent. I think it had been marinated in something like teriyaki or sesame-garlic-Korean sauce. Somehow it was cooked so that it remained flat and lost a lot of fat, but stayed moist and tender. I'd love the recipe if anyone has it. happyharrison@shaw.ca.
