“A beautiful drive and not far away.”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

If you are in Portland, then you pretty much have to do this drive. Because of that, it's well touristed, and might be some parking hassles. We love to stay at Edgefield Hotel in troutdale, and just hangout there the whole time and fit in a Columbia River drive.

“Breath taking”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

The Columbia River Gorge Hwy. is so beautiful that its hard to put into words. Just looking at all the rocks that nature carved and the river running through is breath taking. As you drive along you can see the snow caps and the clear blue water and all the people sailing and fishing.

“High on a mountainoverlooking the CRGNSA this is the best”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

As you drive up the Scenic Highway you will discover a rest stop that was built for the earlier cars. Hanging on the side of Larch Mountain it is 3 stories tall and has photo inspiration written all over the views from there.

The wind can get well over 100 mph because of the Columbia Gorge kind of acts like a wind tunnel..

Stop and take some pictures and go in to talk to the friendly volunteers inside, the Friends of The Vista House. They put in time year round and like to talk to you.

This is great for a leisurely drive. Plan on going around thirty miles per hour. As you head north stop by the Falls.

“A definite must travel”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

What an absolutely beautiful drive. Make the stops along the way to appreciate the waterfalls, they are just a short walk from the parking areas. Multnomah Falls was breathtaking, it's a bit of a longer hike so very worth it.
