Just came to eat here after visiting Multnomah Falls and very glad we did. Everything about the meal was great. We asked and were provided a menu which showed gluten free items and other dietary concerns a diner might have. I had the Tuna and it was prepared perfectly. Even though it was very busy another waiter helped check on us and came by three or four times during the meal to ask how we were and even bought us a complementary sampling from the kitchen after some questions we asked. We found there to be just a very short wait and glad we stayed. I am very surprised this was only ranked 4th and think as more people try it will rank higher. Some may not go as it is in the hotel McMenamins Edgefield. After dinner walked the grounds and this is a place I'd like to stay at on a future visit.

“Great Experience”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

A unique location, with lots to see. The historic site has a distillery bath house, concert venue, hotel and probably a couple things we missed. Great food and service.

“Major disappointment again”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

The wait was too long at the restaurant so we ate at the bar. We ordered the amazing sounding soup special, ginger carrot, and Kenny's grilled cheese sandwich. After a 20 minute wait, a waiter from the restaurant brought the food, announcing tomato soup. The bar waitress was there and was as shocked as we were. When we asked what happened to the soup of the day that we ordered, he said, Oh we ran out (at noon!) so we substituted. We said it would have been nice to have been informed and asked what we wanted. He shrugged and left. The bar waitress was very nice and said we wouldn't charge us. Good thing, it was awful.

The sandwich is described as "roasted butternut squash, quince compote, gruyère, truffle mayonnaise spicy french fries 11". It was a thin grilled cheese sandwich that may have had a smear of squash or quince - just a hint of something sweet. The tiny order of fries were greasy and limp, without a hint of "spice". And it cost $11!

I have eaten at this restaurant before with a 45 minute wait to be seated by a very rude man when we and others asked why we weren't seated when there were several empty seats. Then the food, described as gourmet with a high price tag, was ordinary and not worth the wait, bad attitude or price. I will never eat here again.

“Great breakfast”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

We've only tried breakfast at Black Rabbit because not only is the food a little "fancy" for us it's also very expensive. We splurge on breakfast though. Our last experience wasn't so great. Service was not good and they were out of a few things because they're bakery truck hadn't shown up. Also the food was a little off in taste. I give it a very good review however because the past 6 times I've had breakfast there have been extremely good.

“Good Food”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Everyone that I went with enjoyed there meal. I had the Green Bean and Tuna Salad w/Gluten Free bread on the side yum. We all had been sampling wine for most of the day but it didn't seem to faze the waiter. Good Food.
