“Good place to get your bearings”

Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center
Reviewed 6 June 2014 via mobile

An extremely helpful and friendly pair of ladies made us feel welcome. We left with feeling well informed, and with a handful of brochures of the places we wanted to visit on the four day stop we made while passing through Oregon. I'm glad we chose Waldport as our layover point.

Waldport is about the dullest place on the planet. The good part is it's quiet, uncrowded, a few weird shops, and near the ocean.

Minutes turn into more minutes here. There is a lot to see in the facility; history is everywhere you turn.

This place is well tended and the volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful

Very clean restrooms are available,also.

They do a very good job with what they have. Sometimes politics is slow on the give & take. We've found them very informative, but then we walked in with specifics we'd heard about word of mouth

Waldport Interpretive center is manned by volunteers who know the area or will find out information if they don't know it. The bldg is a small museum focused on the bridges along the coast designed by one man who knew his stuff. Although Waldport's bridge was replaces over a decade ago, it was not from faulty or needed repairs but because of the need for a larger bridge.

Also inside the building are brochures for about every attraction, event or location one would like to explore along the coastline. Oregon maps are available and all are free.

The Interpretive Center is also the location of the Christmas season kickoff, with Santa coming by fire engine the first part of December, a dog costume contest, walk across the bridge, live orchestra music and free grilled hot dogs provided by the Waldport Lions. Inside, community members and guest will find lots of cookies, coffee and cocoa to stay warm.

If you are traveling through Waldport, make a point to stop by the Intrepetive Center at the southern foot of the bridge, with easy access and plenty of parking. Clean restrooms too!!
