“A wonderful Oregon State Park”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

It is a small park and one only a couple so close to the ocean. It has RV parking with water and electric ( no waste tank dump). It also had tent sites, and many are good sized. The camping fee includes free showers, and wood is available for $5.00 a bundle. Most hook up sites are booked well in advance.

“Favourite camping spot on Oregon Coast!”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

Drove by and to our good fortune someone had left a day early and we got their spot for a night. Have tried many times to just pop in, during, admittedly, the high seasons and camp here but have never been able to; our lucky night. We were in spot #77 and found it to be a roomy, quiet pitch for the evening. Very little traffic noise even though we were there just after July 4th weekend.

We found the rangers and camp hosts (two sets) to be super friendly, personable and available.

The park is very, very well taken care of. The washroom building is well maintained and frequently cleaned. The showers were great and free.

The views from some of the sites are really good but in all honesty the longest walk to a beach access from any site can't be more than 2 minutes. Lovely sandy beach. 3 mile walk to Waldport.

We really enjoyed our visit and will make the effort to book in advance (can book up to 9 months in advance for this park, and perhaps all other state campgrounds, not sure) for one of those lovely oceanview sites!

“Easy beach access, good parking”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

We stop here almost every time we drive by. It is good for a (leashed) dog walk. Rest rooms are convenient. If you want to walk on the beach this has to be the easiest walking access to the beach along the coast highway.

“Nice beach, but some campsites next to busy noisy highway!”
Reviewed 4 January 2013

The best feature of this campground is that it is located right on the beach - you do not have to climb over sand dunes, walk a long distance or cross the highway to get to the ocean!

It is, I believe, the ONLY State Park along the Oregon coast that has camping right at the beach. (There are many privately owned RV parks and campgrounds that are located on the beach.)

The worst feature of this campground, without question in my opinion, is that a number of the campsites are located right on the busy, noisy Highway 101. There are 'zillions' of cars, RVs and big trucks zooming by literally just a few feet away from the campsites. Summer traffic is heavy.

There are also some "middle" campsites which get some traffic noise but aren't too bad. Some of the ocean side campsites have ocean views from the campsites, but there is a lot of vegetation blocking the views from others. I think that's kind of a shame, as they could charge more for ocean view campsites.

I found the restrooms to be clean and when I was there the campground was quiet. There is a camp host whom I think is there year round.

The beach is long and wide. It's sandy with no dramatic rocks but is a great place for long easy walks. There is free parking for day use at the north end and easy beach access from there.
