“Not So Bad”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Give it a chance if you're stuck in Waldport. We spent 8 days in a Beach House. When it was time to leave my family insisted we stay another night. so I had to find something quick.Alsi fit the bill.Available. 3 rooms, reasonable rates. Yes, it does look abandoned, but it's quiet. Kia at the desk was very nice and accommodating. Beds were very soft, but not a problem, I slept comfy. No microwave, no frig, but that was okay, it was only 1 night. It was clean.Looks like they are trying hard to bring this Hotel back to life! Can't comment on the Continental Breakfast, we left at 7am, not served til 8am, which is alittle lame, as many travelers do get an early start. Oh well, MacDonalds is only 25 mins. away. The GREAT thing about this experience is.....when we got 30 mins away, into Newport, my son realized he'd lost is wallet, with$$$$, thinking hard we called the Hotel and asked them to run up and check the room, it was on the bed and we retrieved the wallet and $$$$, gave them a reward and we were back on the Road, what a relief to see there are indeed Honest people. Thank You Alsi!! P.S. Good Pizza and Service at Central City Waldport, not a lot to do in Waldport, but Newport is only a short drive.

We were stranded on 4th of July so this was the first place we found that had vacancy. From outside the building looks abandoned. The grounds had long, wilted grass. The building was covered in birds drippings. Our room was clean. The placed was very loud at night with crying kids and dogs barking. Apparently this place has breakfast, so I went there around 8am. The little lobby was full of people, looked like a big family. The table where there should be food, was empty. They offered coffee, cheerios, juice, milk and little packaged pastries. All the baskets were empty. I grabbed last pastry for my husband some cereal. I came back after 5 minutes to get something for myself but everything was gone and employee was just standing by front desk being ignorant. If the hotel offers continental breakfast, at least refill the basked with the only food that you offer. I would never go back. I always assume that little town like this place would want people to come back and not leave with a terrible after taste.

Room Tip: Rooms are very noisy, unless you are a solid sleeper.

We booked a room at the Alsi Resort for a weekend family reunion in Waldport, Oregon. When we were going to check in the man at the front desk showed us the room and it was clean with a partial view of the river. It overlooked a pool that was closed the end of June. We took the room then noticed there was no refrigerator or microwave. There was a half roll of TP with no back up roll. When I called for TP at 8:30 in the a.m. the manager informed me "the housekeepers would be in at 9:00". At that point my husband went to meet the manager and she told him she didn't know where they kept the supplies. He managed to come back with a roll of TP somehow. That night we put our leftover dinner outside the sliding door to keep it cold as our ice chest was full. The manager showed up with a refrigerator and a microwave in the a.m. I asked her "Did we need to ask for a refrigerator in a Queen size bedroom?" She said they have them in the "suites." Really. The continental breakfast is cold cereal, juice and coffee.
The maid service left our dirty paper coffee cups and did not replace them. We had to get some from the Continental breakfast table. This is a nice location, many more rooms then probably can ever be filled. The staff was "nice" but you must ask for everything! They charged our credit card for the first night, then when I wanted to pay cash for the entire visit when we checked in they COULD NOT credit back the card.

Room Tip: We had room 105 on the ground floor, right next to the manager's office. It was a quiet room an...

I have worked in Hotel Management in the surrounding areas of this location, for the last 20 years. In Newport when all the Hotels are full we often send overflow here, knowing that this place is always guaranteed to still have vacancy. I have always wondered why it is so hard for them to fill up. We decided to give this place a try to see how it is. First we noticed how outdated & shabby it is. The beds don't even have frames, they are just mattresses on the floor. Most of the rooms were visibly unoccupied & left dirty our entire stay. The room, hallway floors, & laundry room were so filthy they looked like they had not been cleaned for months. It was so bad that we borrowed a vacuum (from outside the Motel) to clean them ourselves. At check in, the Motel Manager was very unpleasant. In fact, she was down right rude! Even though we experienced all this, we were willing to smile through it & try to enjoy our stay. The long creepy hallway towards the lobby is an uncanny resemblance to the movie The Shining! There's even an old 70's big wheel with rusty peddles, outside the hall, just like the little boy rode in the movie! RedRum RedRum!!! Aaaahhh!!! There is never anyone at the desk, no matter what time of day. There is a sign on the desk that says to pick up the phone (located by the front door) but if you do you get someone who sounds like they just woke up & are terribly annoyed to be bothered! The Manager & desk clerk sit inside her office smoking cigarettes with the door open, so that the smoke drifts straight into the lobby! Breakfast consists of juice pitchers filled with cereal & mini honey buns but it does not start until after 8am. During our stay we saw that the lady staying in a room nearby had different men coming in & out of her room at all hours & it was clear that they were more than friends! She also did not seem to have a vehicle in a place where there are no stores or restaurants within walking distance. Every window in the building is covered in Seagull droppings. The pool was supposed to be open by now for Summer hours but we were told "maybe we will have it open in a couple of weeks". It is understandable why they have such a hard time getting business now, they are driving people away! I know that I will never recommend this place to any travelers when surrounding areas are all full. I would rather recommend a person drive 100 miles, rather than stay at this place!

Room Tip: Choose a different Motel

Jessica is currently a guest at our hotel, she was caught several times smoking pot in her room with her children present. We have a very strict no smoking policy, which we disclose at time of check in. She was charged for the smoking violation so out of her anger she has posted a complete false review about our hotel.

Quiet, mid-range hotel with water in distance, could be nice. But there is nothing here. There is no food! Not even a morning muffins and coffee spread. A cute restaurant and separate bar are at one end of the hotel, but they are closed. Word is Waldport is so depressed they cannot even hire a cook. Half the buildings in town are boarded up if you ride in to fine food. And there are no restaurants and the ones in Yachats and Newport we went to were not good either. This is a dumpy area except happens to be by the gorgeous ocean. Weird location for a hotel, isolated in a residential area. The lack of any interest by management to see that their guests do not starve to death is a concern. For a quick overnight, clean, uncrowded, safe, OK. But if you require sustenance, keep driving south to Florence or stay in Newport.

Room Tip: The place was only 10% occupied. Ask to see the room they offer first, so if anything wrong you can...
