“Very pleasant hike and picnic spot”
Review of Salmon River Trail

Salmon River Trail
Reviewed 8 July 2013

This is a short ans sweet family outing area; trails are very well maintained (mostly paved). There are educational boards and games for youngsters. If you are looking for a serious hike, this probably isn't the spot but a really beautiful place for a stroll.

Visiting the Ranger station first will clear up any questions about parking or use permits, but it was not open when we visited.

For just a day hike, park at the bridge where the road crosses the Salmon river.
HIke in to the Wilderness boundary marker, get your permit (if after May 15), and keep going.

Just past the bridge, the trail begins a moderate climb to the overlook above Frustration Falls. This makes the climb worth it. A short afternoon is time enough to make it in and out to at least Goat Creek camp. With a full day available, beyond Goat Creek the trail narrows, there are less people, great hiking and more fantastic scenery.

Some tips to help first-timers fit in: This is a friendly place; greet other hikers on the trail and help each other pass. Don't take your kids past the Rolling Riffle camp, it is a long climb for them and it really is dangerous at the overlook. Don't play in the river. And please, pack out your trash!

Awsome well groomed trail along salmon river great for whole family, salmon in river, old growth, lots of ferns and perfect campsights on river, hike in, two to three miles up trail the adventours hikers can take side trail, very steep, not advised for children, down to view frustration falls, final falls, little niagra falls, again, experienced hikers and climbing gear in some areas approaching the falls, the falls are viewed from a very high cliff, extreme caution needed but the reward is awsome. the side trails are not marked but easily found

Well paved trails and plenty of places to sit along the way - perfect for all even if you are in a wheelchair or limited in mobility in some way... watch out for the plethora of mosquitos though...

Wow! What a wonderful trail! Fairly easy and lots of wildlife and flora to experience. Take a snack and your water bottle (or two), and get in touch of with you nature-loving side!
