“Old Wheeler Hotel is a One of a Kind Gem”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

We spent the night at the Old Wheeler Hotel on a trip down the Coast. It was a chance to step back in time and be pampered. We had room 6, which comes with a private bathroom down the hall. The sitting room just outside of our room was furnished with many antiques. For the most part of the evening, that room was ours alone. It's as if we'd stepped back in time to the '30s. You gather that once you enter the hotel, as there's a collection of classic bellman's uniforms at the bottom of the stairs. It takes only a moment to know you're at a very special hotel. They provide it all - there's board games and even "classic" DVDs you can borrow. It's not a B&B - it's just a labor of love that makes this the ideal getaway for couples.

Spent a wonderful night at this 8 room hotel. It should be reclassified as a bed and breakfast., or at least a boutique hotel. So many nice features really personalized our stay. Mints, robes, homey lounge with all kinds of games to pass your time. Great for adults. Just super!

Room Tip: We stayed in a room with a separate bath just for our use.....a bit cheaper, and fine for us.

My husband, is not always a fan of bed-and-breakfast vacationing. But he loved this place. The innkeeper is gracious, available but not hovering. The details are exceptional and she's thought of everything. We recommend you stay in room four five for the view.

Everything about this hotel's experience was amazing. The staff was super friendly and got us well oriented in the building, town of Wheeler, and surrounding area. They also upgraded our room coming in due to a cancellation. Everything was very clean and well kept, and the atmosphere of the hotel was very warm and inviting- a good mix of classical furniture and artwork with a touch of modern. Breakfast in the morning was simple but very complete, and came with amazing views of the Wildlife Observation Area across the bay (we apparently just missed a herd of elk wandering in the area!). While Wheeler itself does not contain much, the hotel is just a 20 minute drive from Cannon Beach, one of the most populated and busy beaches on the Oregon coast. If you get a chance, stay in this hotel!

I stayed in room 4. In al the hotels/motels I have stayed, I have never been as happy as I have been with this one. Only, I reccemend you bring your own coffee, as they only have coffee for breakfast and the only coffee house in town has limited hours. The restaraunt on the bay serves seattles best, but had to make fresh when we arrived. It was great. The view is serene. Lovers can walk hand in hand and enjoy the wildlife viewing areas. Families can Kayak. I was thankful to take our small motorcycle to get around. Truck parking will be challenging. I recommend this hotel/room over all others.

The Old Wheeler Hotel is fabulous. This old historic building has been restored with great care in each and every room. We stayed in Room 5 this visit. It has a great view of the bay and an amazing jetted tub. It was incredibly relaxing and exactly what we needed. The staff is amazing and is very kind and happy to help in any way they can. They try to make you feel like you are at home with them. You will definitely love your stay here and I guarantee you will want to go back again and again.

Charming renovated hotel with lots of character and warmth. The staff are very welcoming and look after the guests very well. Each room has a unique color scheme and arrangement. Room 1 is the smallest but has a great view of estuary. Though it is right next to the common area I did not experience excessive noise. Beds are super comfy. The windows throughout the rooms are triple paned too, keeping out the road traffic commotion. Rooms 2 and 3 are a bit more private, set back down a short hallway, 4 is large with a jacuzzi, and 5 is a private, pleasant corner room. 6-8 are quietest and most private but no view of the estuary. There is a something for everyone. Breakfast is healthy with granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, juice, coffee. A small communal refrigerator is provided to store your perishables. I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms 1-5 have views of the estuary. 6-8 are side rooms but very quiet and private.
