This was my 2nd trip to the museum overall, and the first for the new Porsche exhibit. Included are an ultra rare, original 1967 911-S (first production year) in Red on black interior, as well as its current evolution, a 2012 GT3 RS4, with the 4.0 liter monster power plant. You won’t find these type of rare and pristine examples anywhere else !
I loved the visit, a lot of local racing history, you can experience driving 3 different kinds of cars
Wow where to begin! What a place! The corvette exhibit happened to be there. Very impressive collection of historic auto racing memorabilia. From stock car to Indy, from drag racing to motorcycle racing! Even world land speed record holders! Even got to peak behind the scenes in the archives! Met the manager, she was quite accommodating, given simulator that I had purchased ticket for had a glitch that made it so I couldn’t use it. She moved myself over to another simulator without hassle or a refund which I took the option to move. The staff was very knowledgeable about all the exhibits! Will be returning for sure!
My 16 year old grandson likes cars and so we visited World of Speed. I was so impressed with all the information and displays and my grandson was in his element. We had so much fun looking at everything. We will be visiting again and again!
Had a Department dinner at WOS last week. Excellent facility with terrific displays of motor vehicles of all types. Terrific banquet/large meeting facilities. Easy access from I-5 with adequate parking.
Made a visit with my brother who lives in the area. Our visit coincided with the special exhibit to Corvettes. The museum is not that large and could be thoroughly visited in under 2 hours. Slightly more when there are special exhibitions going on. Which I understand is fairly regular and changes regularly too. They had Corvettes on display dating back to it beginning of 1953 and up to models in the 2000's. Some original others being restorations while others were modified for the track. Other parts of the museum pay homage to the areas contribution to motor sports. Be it on two wheels or four. There are a large number of vehicle displays including Formula 1, NASCAR, land-speed record chasers and a host of other racing leagues from throughout history. There are a few interactive exhibits. The most fun being the racing simulators (single person) and the reaction-time test seats (2 person). There is a small area where smaller children can be left while the older children/adults are visiting. The gift shop is in the area where you first enter and also purchase tickets and make your entrance/exit to/from the museum. All of the museum is static with the exception of the special exhibits which, as mentioned, change regularly. It's fun and interesting so unless the special stuff brings something fun or unique one visit will suffice.
