“A gem of a hotel/restaurant on the Oregon Coast”
Reviewed 7 October 2011

The Adobe Resort offers a grand view of the Oregon Coast and an excellent restaurant where one can dine leisurely while watching the sun set. Our room had a jetted tub with a view that was a perfect place for wine, cheese and fruit. There was also a fireplace, but we didn't use it because the Autumn was warm. Other comforts and features that our room boasted was a refrigerator, microwave and wi-fi at no charge. The indoor pool is large and well maintained as was the hot tub and the wading pool. Overall we found a well appointed bargain in a town of 850 with no stoplight.

Room Tip: There's no AC, so if it's warm in Yachats ask for a room with with less sun exposure.

The resort is getting along in years so the weat and tear is beginning to show. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Had a very nice dinner but nothing exceptional except the view. Their is a great walking path along the beach that makes you feel like you are really out away from everyone.
All in all a great experience.

Room Tip: The North wing rooms have better accomodations, are all pet friendly but don't have as great a v...

We spent an enjoyable night at the Hotel Adobe in Yachats while driving down the Oregon coast earlier this month. It is located right on the coast next to a large rock formation, so you hear the surf breaking constantly, very relaxing. The room was comfortable and well furnished, with a beautiful ocean view. The young lady at the front desk recommended her favorite room, which has a fireplace and it was a good choice. We were fortunate enough to see whales swimming past, which was a nice bonus. We ate in the restaurant, reservations recommended if you want a window seat. The food and service were great, enjoyed the salad bar, the only slight problem was the brightness of the setting sun. It would be a good idea for them to invest in some kind of shade for this, quite a few diners were wearing sunglasses. But of course it is only a temporary issue. There is a great lounge next to the restaurant, again with an ocean view. The next day we went for a walk on part of the 804 trail, which was very pleasant. It is an easy walk and you can make it long or short depending on your preference. There are benches along the way to rest, or just sit and enjoy the ocean view.

We reserved our room ahead of time. After our arrival with our two dogs we were directed to a "pet friendly" building with an explanation from the front desk staff that some people are allergic to pets. I understand and respect that. When we arrived to the "pet friendly" building we were overwhelmed by the strong urine smell by the front door to the building. The hallway and staircase to our room on the second floor was smelly and dirty. Our room was spacious and had a partial view of the ocean. The carpet in the room was worn out with number of stains and tear in it. The furniture remembered better days and the bedspread should have been retired some time ago. The bathroom towels were clean but the light fixture from the 60th could used some dusting. When traveling with pets, one doesn't need to feel like being in a "leash off dog park" at the end of dry summer. I am glad that other travelers had much nicer experience in this establishment. They obviously were not traveling with pets and were not put in the "pet reserved building". Luckily, all our other "pet room friendly" places we stayed on the Oregon Coast were very nice, clean, smell free and truly pet and human friendly.

We reserved this room at the last minute and luckily they had a room. We took a room with no view because it was a very good price and we've been in Yachats many times. The room was perfect for what we needed. They had a nice size refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. We actually took our toaster and Vitamix since we have diet restrictions. There was a wedding Sat night but we didn't hear anything. They don't have a free breakfast but we did eat in the restaurant for breakfast and it was very good food. Plus the service was excellent.

Once again I find myself at one of the most beautiful places on the coast , I keep coming back here because it makes me feel good. The rooms are always clean, the service always top of the line and the views are more spectacular each visit. The resort is well run and it shows. The housekeeping staff is great, they cleaned my room so well I thought I somehow got the wrong room on my second day when I got back from a trip to the city and that's the way it should be.
I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to witness the most beautiful, relaxing pacific coast.

We stayed in a 2nd floor ocean view room with two queens. The room was small, but the ocean was only a stone's throw away. Everything was nicely appointed, clean and classy. The room has a tiny table, micorwave, small refrigerator TV and DVD player. Outside our window is a rocky beach and a nice grassy area with a gravel path that runs along the beach for a couple of miles.

There is a nice pool area that inclues a hot tub and a good sized wading pool for the kiddies (ranging from 6" - 18" deep). There is also a whole separate wing for pets. Pets are never allowed in the main wing.

Even though the temperatures were in upper 60's while we were there, the room got warm enough to be uncomfortable at night. Their only cooling system consists of a window that opens and a fan that I found in the closet. That "soothing" sound of the beach can become annoying if you aren't used to it.

Some of our reletives stayed in a room with a "hillside" view on the back side of the hotel. The room looks out over the parking lot and a really lovely hillside across the highway. Their room was much bigger than ours and they paid almost half of what we paid. When we stay there again during nice weather, we'll choose that option and forgo the view as the beach and walking path is just around the corner. During the winter months, we'd pay extra for the view.

The hotel didn't offer a free breakfast, so we thought the price was a bit high. There is a restaurant down stairs where you can get a simple egg/ toast breakfast for about $8.00. Or favorite restaurant, The Drift Inn is a better choice, or bring your own cereal and fruit, like we do.

The beach right near the Adobe is pretty rocky with sometimes high and scary waves (a couple of teenagers got too far out on the rocks and were swept away last winter). During calmer times there are some nice tide pools and good agate hunting. There is a sandy beach within hiking or short driving distance, but we found it to be pretty windy. We fell in love with the beach at Seal Rock about 15 minutes north of Yachats. It is protected and not very windy (in fact, we couldn't even fly our little kite). Be sure to park at the Seal Rock Recreation Area. It has restrooms and a safe way to get down to the beach. There is a parking/viewing area a bit south of that, but it is difficult to get down to the beach from there.

Yachats is a sweet little town that has lots going on: theater, swing dancing twice a month, various festivals, a Saturday Market. However, not much shopping. You'll want to buy your gas and groceries in either Florence (to the south) or Newport (to the north).

As mentioned, our favorite restaurant is the Drift Inn. The food is good and the atmosphere can't be beat. They have live music most nights. Come early or be prepared to wait for a table.

Our favorite hotel in Yachats is the Overleaf, but it is too spendy for us during peak season. The Adobe is a good second choice. We got reservations 2 weeks in advance in August and it was the only hotel in town that still had rooms with queens. We'll go again and would recommend it!

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are smaller and twice the price. During good weather consider the Hillside rooms a...
