The owner, Vacasa was super responsive to emails and everything was exactly as they said it would be, and as advertised. It was hassle free and smooth.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and you need to bring slippers so that you can dump your shoes just inside the door. Downstairs is the bedroom with king size comfortable bed, and bathroom, with a beautifully tiled walk in shower, two sinks and a toilet. There is also a desk with a chair: perfect for those of us who have to work on vacation. The wireless internet worked seamlessly and although there is no cell phone service inside the building, wi-fi calling works just great.
The bay window and window seat with cushions would be a great place to read on rainy days, and offers a wonderful view of the gardens and ocean.
Upstairs is the kitchen / lounge area and balcony. There is also a half bath, that stays warm if you leave the door shut, making it perfect to dry wet clothes or towels.
The kitchen has a fridge, (check the settings as I froze the salad that I bought) with small freezer above (take ice trays if you want to make ice), a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, hot water kettle and blender. There was no toaster. Dish soap, towels and scrubbies are provided, as are utensils, cutting knives, board, tupperware, plates, bowls, glasses, etc. It was perfect for preparing light meals such as salads and sandwiches.
There is a smart TV with a video player if that is your thing - we prefered to just sit on the balcony and enjoy the view.
The property is set back a little from the beach, overlooking beautiful gardens. The view of the ocean and beach is through the trees; close enough to be a wonderful ocean view and just far enough to be safe in a storm. You only have to open the windows a little to hear the roar of the ocean.
This place is perfect for a quiet single or couples retreat: there were no screaming kids or barking dogs, although there are two or three other larger properties close by that share the same driveway and gardens. We were there off season, so maybe at busier times, it may not be so peaceful.
The beach access was not available as the last part has not yet been re-constructed after some storm damage, but there is beach access just a little south (very short drive) of the property or the best we have found in that area is just a little north of Yachats, where there is enough sandy beach to walk for miles.
There is a grocery store and several restaurants just 9 miles away in Yachats and if you need something bigger, Florence is a short drive to the south.
My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay in the secluded duplex. It was our 30th anniversary and we just wanted to get away and relax while seeing and hearing the ocean from our rental home. It was cozy, clean and comfy and access to the beach was easy. Truly a delight!
