“Our Corgi Loves Deane's Oceanfront Lodge... and so do we!”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We have been to this lodge before when it was under different management, and we gave it a luke-warm rating at that time -- our personal rating since sites like tripadvisor were not in existance then. This trip to Deane's was a pure joy! We love the upgrades and all the personal touches. There is now satellite tv, a microwave and small refrig, and a DVD player -- free rentals in the office! Glen, Katherine and Cheri are marvelous hosts, along with the rest of their staff. They know the area and were quick with suggestions that turned out perfect for our needs. What a great lawn area and beach access! We were fortunate enough to see a gorgeous sunset the night we were there and look forward to an extended stay in the future. The bed was comfortable, and the accommodations for our corgi Johnny were truly generous! If you're looking for something like the Hilton, then GO to the Hilton -- but if you're looking for a friendly, warm, old-time oceanfront lodge, then Deane's is the place to stop for a night or a vacation!!

Room Tip: Most of the rooms face the ocean across a large lawn. If you have a dog, ask for dog-friendly rooms...

The location is the key factor in this hotel! Incredible view of the ocean ! Loved the bright glass bricked bathroom shower and the large paned windows to let in all the sun! Cute beachy decor and the office lady with her helper Thomas the cat are welcoming, friendly and full of information. She even made our dinner reservations for the local Italian restaurant "Heidi's" where you only get in with a reservation. Plenty of people there with their well behaved pets. There was even an electric fireplace in our room. Our room was on the small side but had everything we needed for the 2 of us. Even though pets are allowed you couldn't tell as it was clean and fur free. The only thing that I wish was different was that the gravel path to the beach cliff look out would have been smooth pavement so that my husband's walker would have been able to have access to the cliff side seating. Even the yard was relatively flat but still too uneven for him to push his walker across. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and my husband did get to sit on the little sitting area just outside our back door which also had a grill and a picnic table. I would stay here again.

We have enjoyed several trips to Dean's Ocean View Lodge over the last 3 years. Each time has been great. The owner's and staff really go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and soon we felt like part of the family. We like the location very much. The grounds are nice and roomy and it's only a short distance to the overlook bench and stairs leading to the beach. The water is nice and close and it feels like a big long private beach for walking, relaxing or building sand castles. Dean's was recommended to us as a people and dog friendly place and we could not be more pleased to find it so. It has the feel of an old fashioned get-a-way with a combination of clean and neat yet down to earth and simple style. They have incorporated the original wood trims and fixtures with updated additions. We like the fact that it is just a couple of miles from a town either north or south but instead of the noisy traffic and tourist shoppers we have open space and more quiet. Our dogs love to socialize with other dog guests and they love the access to snoop and sniff around the big open areas. Glen and Katherine are very professional and yet friendly, welcoming, and easy to talk to. Their office lounge area is always ready to receive visitors for a chat. We look forward to many future trips to Dean's. In fact, our next stay is already booked!

We booked the lodge because of the reviews on tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. We stayed just for one night and found the location very charming and convenient on our trip up north.

We had a room with two queen beds. The room was very nicely appointed and clean, the bathroom was cute and retro with a bathtub from the thirties which we absolutely loved. For three people (2 adults, one child) and some suitcases the room felt a little too small, but it was perfect for one night. We were not disturbed by any traffic noise or guests next door (the room felt as if it was almost soundproof) so we could get some restful sleep.

The staff was superfriendly and helpful when we had a small problem. Fortunately we also could get a pet-free room which we reserved in advance. After booking through an online-service we even got a personal mail to reassure us of our requested pet-free room!

The heater (an artificial fireplace!) worked well when it got a little chilly at night. We loved the two entrances, one leading to the parking lot in front of the room, the other opening towards the beach and a little patio with barbecue grills and picnic tables in front of almost every room.

The breakfast was remarkable, we enjoyed the coffee, juice, all sorts of fresh baked donuts and fresh fruit, sitting on the comfortable retro sofas at the reception and chatting with the host and guests. It is a very personal charming atmosphere which felt nice.
The beach is wonderful and vast, great for walks.

We can highly recommend staying at the lodge, we really enjoyed our short stay.

This motel in Yachats seems at first glance no different from many you'd find on the coast. But you'd be wrong- the rooms are beautifully decorated with a nautical flavour, and have big high-end beds which wouldn't disgrace a top hotel. Add in a log-effect fireplace, and a door opening directly onto a private patio and thence to the beach , and you've got the best there is. Friendly owners top off the package nicely. Do not miss this one!

Booked two rooms for family of 5 in August. Extremely homely place. The best welcome we have had from the hosts. Very helpful from places to visit, which included little maps to the best local restaurants. Fabulous. View was great as well. Rooms clean and well kept, with TV and DVD. Rage of dvd's in the reception to watch as well. Coffee and donuts for breakfast. Perfect.

Room Tip: Ones with the sea view are best. But others ok too.

We shared a two room suite with a kitchenette. The kitchenette had a stove, refrigerator, microwave, sink, dishes, pots and pans. The facility was very clean and the beds were comfortable. All rooms had ocean views, although the facility was several hundred feet back from the cliff edge leading the the beach. There was easy access to the sandy beach on a short stairway.

Room Tip: All rooms have an ocean view. There only appeared to be two rooms with two bedrooms, so reserve ear...
