“Fun, Beautiful, right on 101”
Reviewed 22 December 2013

A beautiful, impressive example of the sea's power - Devil's churn is a powerful chasm best seen at high tide (for the most impressive smashing/crashing waves). Literally right off of 101. There is a nice paved path from the parking lot down to the edge of the rocks.

You can go all the way down and walk on the rocks above/around the Devil's Churn itself. However, don't recommend doing this at high tide, as it may be dangerous, or at least rather wet.

“beautiful spot”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

the devil's churn is amazing to look at. some people go down there and take pictures. it was fun watching one visitor getting splashed by the water. there's a restroom, a store that sells food and a short trail. not much parking spaces but still ok because we don't need to stay long to enjoy the view and take pictures.

“Boiling, Boiling, Boiling..”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

Sooo dramatic. You can walk all down and see all that boiling water but be very careful - it is unpredictable! Several great short hiking trails around.

“Buy a Pass & Visit at High Tide”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

Before visiting the churn, go to the Cape Perpetua visitor center and buy a 5-day Oregon state parks pass. They're only $10 and will get you into most parks & lighthouses along the coast. Otherwise, you'll pay $5 just to see the churn.
It's best to visit the churn during high tide. The views are fantastic, especially during stormy weather. You can also see Spouting Horn & Thor's Well from this stop.
If you happen to visit during low tide, the tide pools here are great.

“Unusual landmark”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

Stop to see this interesting land feature from the roadside overlook and then take to the beach at low tide and walk inside. The whole family would enjoy this fun landmark.
