The drive to get to the covered bridge is just beautiful. It is a very peaceful and serene drive. The road is curvy and narrow. It is an excellent photo op, and the bridge is very cool. It was built in 1938.

Accidentally stumbled on this while on a short drive down Yachats river road. A beautiful drive by elk grazing area. Lots of photo ops of the bridge and huge old growth trees along the river.

We followed the winding Yachats River for abour 8-9 miles east , after a nice lunch at the Adobe Restaurant, until it became a dirt road and after a mile or so there was the bridge and a small pullout. It reminded us of the covered bridges we have seen in New England except that they are much longer and larger. However, this is a neat variation from the main point of our visit to Oregon...the coast. Don't miss gem, but don't make it your only reason to visit Yachats.

Beautiful old bridge well maintained. On your return trip take the uphill road for a very scenic drive. Don't take the road if narrow steep roads make you nervous.

I had read about this 1938 rustic bridge online. We were even more determined to visit the site when some patrons at a Yachats restaurant told us about it. It's a nice winding drive to get there but the last leg is unpaved. There is a pull-out next to the bridge (by a very large old tree). It is due for a $1 million renovation next year funded by the federal government. There are 'no hunting' signs all over the place probably because there is a protected Elk foraging site nearby. Be sure to look out for the 'OREO' cow farm as you drive back to Yachats. I referred to them as 'Panda' cows only to find out later that they are actually Belted Galloways.
