“Quality lodging w/super view”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

This was a return visit here after a couple of years' absence, and the quality of room furnishing, service, and breakfast remain consistently high. Their special "food drive" winter rates make this hotel a bargain.
The location adjacent to the historic 804 Trail can't be beat. Ask for a map at the front desk. A short walk south along 101, cross to the Earthworks Gallery to access the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve public footpath through a grove of big-leaf rhododendrons.
Rooms to the south of the lobby have the best straight-ahead views of the ocean. The volcanic rock shore reminds me of Hawaii! (A password isn't required for Wi-Fi, so be aware of its lack of security.)

Room Tip: Rooms south of the lobby have ocean views with no buildings in sight.

You are still looking at where you should stay in Yachats??? Seriously?

Stay here.

The location is phenomenal (right on the beach with easy access to the walking path), the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and the breakfasts are amazing.

We stayed here two nights with our family and had just an absolute great time.

This location is a bit pricey, but it is worth it.

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor and were able to walk right out to the beach path.

I just spent two nights in the wonderful Overleaf. It is in an area of outstanding beauty on the Oregon Coast. The rooms are lovely with great ocean views and the bathrooms are great with double sinks and goodies from Aveda. Fabulous breakfast too.
But I thought the best part was the spa, which is included in the price of the hotel. My daughter and I spent the evenings soaking in the jacuzzis (there are two-hot and hotter) watching the sun set over the ocean and enjoying the steam and sauna. Beautiful decor and you can also get a massage.
If you need a firm mattress, specify that when you reserve. Our first room had comfy beds, but they were a bit soft for my back. We were moved to a different room with a firmer mattress (116). I was told all mattresses are new, so it is just a matter of taste.

I know that this is only the first of many visits to the Overleaf.

Room Tip: I liked the bed in 116

It was a joy having you and your daughter stay with us. I am so glad that you discussed your needs with us so that we were able to get you into a room that was comfortable for you. Our spa is certainly one of our most relaxing, beautiful amenities and we are pleased that you took advantage of all they have to offer. We look forward to seeing you on your next get-away to the Oregon Coast.

We visited this Hotel in the company of good firnds from Eugene OR, who are regulars here. We stayed in a superb suite with magnificent views out to the Ocean. The Hotel exudes a quite ambiance and tranquility supported by friendly and courteous staff. The rooms are of a high standard with excellent fit-out.

Breakfast is excellent .

All in all highly enjoyable and despite a wet and stormy couple of days this added to the special location.

The walk around the pathway above the rocks was enjoyable.
We were with special friends in one of their preferred locations. we now know why and we can also recommend.

The Overleaf was our second stop on our coastal trip from San Fran to Seattle. We arrived very late (around 10pm) and the first thing that happened was the super-nice and helpful desk clerk gave us a discount on our night's stay and told us about what great whale sightings they had been able to view that afternoon. Rats! We just missed it. We got checked in and LOVED the room. (309). We popped open a bottle of wine and lit a fire - listened to the ocean and drifted off to sleep. The next morning we enjoyed an awesome breakfast, strolled around the grounds and took in the ocean views. Rather than drive out that day... we decided we wanted to see more of Yachats and relax here at the Overleaf for another evening. We asked if we could add another night to our stay and were told that it would be no problem. The weather, however, did not cooperate as the fog, rain, and heavy winds hammered us most of the day. Our sight-seeing and photo ops were limited - but we have some memorable pictures of the waves crashing the coastline and the wind blowing our hair and scarves all over. :) We hadn't packed our swimsuits so we were not able to enjoy the hot-tub or spa. But they looked relaxing. Another big meal the next morning and we hit the road. Easy check-in - easy check-out - very friendly staff, a pleasant place to stay. Comfortable. Clean. Just perfect in every way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Thank you for sharing your entire experience and giving us such a wonderful recommendation. We are so lucky to be in such a spectacularly beautiful location, one day is never enough to take it all in. We are glad you were able to adjust your travel plans and stay another night with us. The room you stayed in is one of our lovely Inglenook rooms. They are a popular room choice for our guests and the ambiance of the fireplace and the view just begs for a bottle of wine to be opened. If your future plans include another trip to the Oregon Coast, we will be delighted to welcome you back.

Our stay at the Overleaf Lodge and Spa was to celebrate my 60th birthday and was a treat provided by my sisters. The setting was very tranquil and the amenities the best. To start, we entered the room to a direct view of the ocean and a small bouquet of flowers with well wishes for my birthday. The breakfast was top notch, with homemade granola, homemade egg quiche, french toast, fresh fruit was yummy. We each had a spa treatment and I would highly recommend Mary Beth for massage!
Our room overlooked the rocks and surf which was peaceful and a great view. The room was very nice, and appeared to be newly updated.
We will return for sure and recommend to others. The low season was a treat, though the hotel by no means was empty. We went to a play in Newport which was quite good, and the food at the Luna Sea was delicious! Just the best time ever.

Room Tip: Consider choosing a room on the 3rd floor to gain the best view of the water. We had easy access...

We are all so happy to read about your tranquil birthday getaway. It sounds like you had a wonderful, fun celebration trip with your sisters. I’m glad you enjoyed your meal at Luna Sea. It is a great local place for fresh seafood. I will be certain to pass along your compliments to Mary Beth for the great massage. Thank you for sharing your experience.
